The RoleWe are looking for a technically strong and collaborative
Data Engineer to join our Pricing & Data Science team. You'll design, build, and maintain the scalable data pipelines and architectures that power our analytics and business intelligence capabilities-working across a hybrid cloud and on-premises environment in a fast-moving ecommerce context.
This role supports both our eCommerce and Freight Club business units and works closely with data analysts, data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure our data infrastructure supports current and future needs.
This is a hybrid role, based in the Vancouver, BC area. The ideal candidate will work
2 days in the
Vancouver office, with the flexibility to work remotely for the remainder of the week.
What You'll DoPipeline & Architecture- Design, develop, and deploy scalable ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and store structured and unstructured data from various internal and external sources.
- Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency in a hybrid cloud (Azure/Databricks) and on-prem environment (SQL Server).
- Maintain and enhance our data warehouse, data lake, and other storage solutions, ensuring they are performant and resilient.
- Evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies to support evolving data needs and industry best practices.
Data Quality & Governance- Implement data quality, validation, and governance frameworks to ensure high data integrity across the organization.
- Automate routine data operations and develop monitoring systems to proactively detect and resolve issues.
- Develop and maintain clear documentation of data pipelines, processes, and architectural decisions.
Collaboration & Enablement- Partner with analytics and data science teams to understand their requirements and deliver clean, well-modelled datasets that enable self-service analytics and advanced modelling.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with analysts, data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure infrastructure keeps pace with business needs.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate engineering workflows, applying sound judgement to validate outputs and maintain quality.
Who You Are- Proven proficiency in data engineering, including ETL/ELT pipeline development and SQL-based data warehousing.
- Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with modern data warehousing solutions.
- Comfortable working across hybrid environments-supporting both on-prem (SQL Server) and cloud-based data warehouses (Databricks).
- Proficiency in Python, Scala, or Java for data pipeline development.
- Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, Dagster), integration platforms (e.g., Celigo), and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- A systems thinker-you can trace data from source to output, spot reliability gaps, and propose fixes before they become incidents.
- Automation-minded-you look for ways to eliminate manual, repetitive work and build durable solutions.
- A clear communicator who can document decisions and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite) as a data source, including familiarity with their data structures and APIs.
- Exposure to business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and semantic layer concepts.
- Background in ecommerce, logistics, or supply chain data environments.

Compensation & BenefitsWe are committed to transparency in our hiring process. The expected salary range for this role is $85,000-$110,000 depending on various factors including experience, skills, and market benchmarks for the Vancouver area. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
