Full Job Description
Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience managing technical teams in charge of installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, or maintaining hardware servers and its components.
  • 3 years of experience in site-level data center operational leadership.
  • 3 years of experience in a people management, supervision, or team leadership role.
  • Experience with different operating systems (e.g., Linux). Experience with developing network architecture.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.

Preferred qualifications:
  • 3 years of experience in managing and developing other people managers.
  • Experience with process optimization, risk modeling, and at-scale performance management (e.g., KPIs/SLO attainment).
  • Experience initiating and executing strategic initiatives in a global environment.
  • Proven ability to build consensus, resolve operational trade-offs, and drive results across independent cross-functional site organizations (e.g., DCOps, NetOps, Security) without direct reporting authority.
  • Demonstrated passion for operations, people management, and leadership.


About the job

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. As the Data Center Site Lead for Global Server Operations, you will be the primary owner of the site's server and network infrastructure. You will oversee the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure that powers Google's search technology, ensuring the highest standards of reliability and performance through expert leadership and cross-functional alignment.

The Site Lead manages a team of Data Center Leaders and Technicians. Your team will install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain critical hardware and server software. You will own outcomes for deployment and ongoing maintenance involving networks, storage, compute and AI infrastructure, while leading project teams through high-risk operational transitions and developing comprehensive contingency plans.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $205000 - $285000 (USD) 25% bonus target equity benefits

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of individuals; set and communicate individual and team priorities that support organizational goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, and provide feedback and coaching.
  • Partner with teams to meet goals and stakeholders to manage facility activities and set/implement short- and long-term strategies.
  • Maintain, monitor, and execute security and operational procedures and track/analyze trends to identify opportunities for improvements ensuring alignment with organizational policies.
  • Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues.
  • Support and contribute to the implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and other compliance programs and initiatives in collaboration with other teams to ensure environmental and safety incidents are investigated, resolved, and reported.
