You'll gather, organize, review and analyze large sets of information to find trends, errors and areas that need attention. You'll prepare reports, dashboards, presentations and other materials that clearly explain the results. You'll write data queries, review data quality, protect confidential information and work with internal and external partners to understand their data needs. You may also provide guidance to other data analysts. You'll report to the Director of Provider Finance and work under general supervision, with room to use initiative and independent judgment. Essential Job Functions (EJFs): Collects, queries, cleans, prunes, and analyzes Provider Finance data using standard statistical tools, applications, methods, and techniques. 20% Interprets analysis results to identify significant differences, patterns, and trends that inform Provider Finance decisions. 15% Consults with internal and external customers to identify data analytics needs, define requirements, and communicate findings. 15% Provides guidance to other data analysts. 15% Identifies data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by analyzing the content, structure, and relationships within data. 15% Maintains records and security procedures for handling, protecting, and distributing confidential data. 15% Performs related work as assigned. 5% Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of: Statistics and the analysis of data sets. Running queries, report writing, presenting findings, and record keeping, including security procedures for confidential data. Data models, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques. Skill in: Using computers and applicable software. Conducting data searches and evaluating and translating large amounts of data. Critical thinking, problem analysis, and devising effective solutions. Ability to: Compile, review, and analyze data. Prepare reports and maintain accuracy and attention to detail. Communicate effectively. Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications: N/A. Initial Screening Criteria: Required: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, data science, computer science, information systems, finance, or a related field. Two years' experience collecting, querying, cleaning, analyzing, and reporting data using statistical or analytical tools. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Preferred: Experience analyzing large or complex data sets and identifying patterns, trends, or data quality issues. Experience writing queries and preparing technical reports, dashboards, or presentations. Experience with data models, database design, data mining, or segmentation techniques. Experience handling confidential data and applying data security procedures. Experience with Provider Finance, Medicaid, health care finance, reimbursement, or public-sector programs. Experience identifying data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, or redundancies and providing guidance to other analysts.
