Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Corporate Engineering Technical Sales DBA to join our dynamic team. This hybrid role blends deep technical expertise in enterprise databases with strong customer-facing, solution-selling, and enablement skills. You will serve as the bridge between product engineering and customer engagements, capable of troubleshooting complex systems and articulating solutions to both technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the subject matter expert for all major database platforms, including: SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and other emerging technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize database performance in complex, multi-platform environments.
  • Understand and demonstrate the integration between databases and storage arrays, including: RAID configurations, replication technologies, snapshotting, and backup/restore methods.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to design and present technical solutions aligned to business goals.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation, including: White papers, best practices, deployment guides, and integration manuals.
  • Develop and utilize Python, shell scripting, and RESTful API calls to automate tasks and integrate solutions.
  • Work across modern operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and AIX, and understand virtualization technologies: Such as LPARs (AIX), KVM, VMware, Hyper-V, etc.
  • Present to large audiences, including customer technical teams, executives, and partner engineering groups.
  • Provide technical enablement, training, and knowledge transfer to field teams and customers.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers in pre-sales and post-sales engagements.
  • Travel, a few times a year for a few days, is required.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hands-on DBA experience with enterprise database platforms.
  • Strong experience in performance tuning, including backup and architecture review.
  • Working knowledge of storage technologies and how they interact with database systems.
  • Basic programming/scripting skills:
  • Python, Bash/Shell, and working knowledge of RESTful APIs.
  • Proven experience with Windows, Linux, and AIX OS administration, including virtualized environments.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, comfortable speaking to technical and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and produce high-quality technical content.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a technical sales, pre-sales, or field engineering role.
  • Familiarity with cloud database platforms (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Oracle Cloud).
  • Experience writing and maintaining automation scripts for performance benchmarking and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of containerized DBs (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes-based deployments) is a plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
  • Able to translate complex technical topics into customer-friendly language.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with engineering, sales, product management, and marketing teams.


Salary Range: $200,000 - $225,000
