Corporate Counsel, Innovation. The role will report directly to the GVP & Deputy General Counsel, IP, Privacy and Security. The
Corporate Counsel, Innovation will be based in the US and may work from a remote office.
Position SummaryThe
Corporate Counsel, Innovation will be responsible for working closely with our Innovation Solutions, AI Governance Committee, Product Lines and other engineering and product-related departments during concept, development and execution of new products and processes to implement the company's product and infrastructure technology strategies; determining best practices for compliance with intellectual property rights of third-parties, AI laws and privacy and security laws; researching and drafting internal processes and policies; and providing internal training and oversight in partnership with other departments.
The Corporate Counsel, Innovation will also be responsible for intellectual property, AI law, and privacy and security counsel and support in collaboration with other Legal department teams; drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of contracts, including inbound and outbound licensing agreements, strategic partnerships, data protection agreements, and other agreements; other general corporate law functions and advice based on the company's needs.
The position will work with the Director and Managing Counsel, Intellectual Property and Director and Managing Counsel, Privacy and Security.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Work closely with our Innovation Solutions, AI Governance Committee, Product Lines and other engineering and product-related departments during concept, development and execution of new products and processes.
- Determine best practices for the company's usage of AI technologies.
- Counsel on compliance with intellectual property rights of third parties, AI laws, privacy and security laws and provide internal training and oversight in partnership with other departments.
- Research and draft internal processes and policies relating to intellectual property, AI laws, and privacy and security in partnership with other departments.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including license agreements, strategic partnerships, data protection agreements, and counsel on customer agreements and licensing in collaboration with Regional Legal department teams.
- Conduct legal/technical review of marketing and technical documentation.
- Interact with other Legal department members, company employees, outside counsel and opposing counsel.
- Perform other general law functions and provide other general law advice as needed.
- Provide other support to the Legal department as needed.
- Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
Education- J.D. from an accredited law school and current licensure to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Technological/engineering/computer science undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
Experience - Transactional or litigation legal practice, preferably in one or more of the following areas: intellectual property - patent/copyright/software licensing, AI or privacy and security.
Qualifications & Skills - Experience advising on both US and global, intellectual property, privacy and security laws, regulations, and standards.

The general salary range for this type of role is 150k - 190k depending on skills and experience. The actual compensation offered will ultimately be based on several factors such as: a candidate's location, and the level of applicable skills and professional experience.
