Detailed Overview

The Coordinator, Protection Design & Technology leads in protection building design and protection/security/parking technology input for Fraser Health, Provincial Health Services Authority and Providence Health Care (collectively, the "Organizations") projects. Administers the platform of electronic and other related security and parking systems and technologies. Provides leadership in the evaluation and implementation of new and existing security and parking related technologies. Manages the system linkages with other Integrated Protection Service departments including parking and Photo ID & Access. Supports the Manager with the daily operations of the department.

Responsibilities
  • Leads the provision of building design and protection/security/parking technology input for redevelopment, major construction and renovation projects across the Organizations to ensure Integrated Protection Service standards for safe design and technology applications are met.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of Integrated Protection Service electronic security and parking systems standards for building design, security sensitive areas and the application of parking facility technology. Communicates these standards to Facilities Planning, Facility Maintenance and Operations across the Organizations and to project managers, contractors and others as part of an ongoing working relationship with these key partners.
  • Acts as the primary Integrated Protection Services contact across the Organizations in the implementation of electronic access control, closed circuit television, duress/panic, intrusion and other related technologies. Conducts physical security risk assessments and security reviews for the Organizations. Coordinates the functional delivery of facility parking services.
  • Maintains the security and integrity of security systems and related administrative processes for the Organizations.
  • Provides direction and makes recommendations to internal and external partners of the Organizations, such as general contractors, project managers, engineers, electrical consultants, and staff regarding the implementation of security and parking related systems for the Organizations.
  • Provides advice to and participates with Labour Relations, Directors/Managers and other staff in the Organizations in investigations involving staff with a particular emphasis on those involving security or parking information technology. Plays a lead role in the application of security technology that may be required for sensitive investigations.
  • Develops, implements and administers training/education/promotion programs relating to the use of security and parking related systems and processes for the Organizations.
  • Supports the preparation of operating and capital budgets associated with the administration and operation of applicable security and parking equipment, in collaboration with the Manager, Protection Design & Technology. Develops and conducts audits relating to system use/potential abuse, making modifications as required. Develops and implements installation and programming standards for security related equipment.
  • Liaises with other Integrated Protection Services business streams in the capacity of protection project design and technology, and other related integration requirements. Leads the interface between project security and parking technology and system functions related to access control/Photo ID. Liaises with Photo ID Services to ensure the integrity of the access control program.
  • Liaises with external emergency and law enforcement services in response to incidences and issues impacting the Organizations’ staff, clients and operations.
  • Provides after hours on-call function for Integrated Protection Services for the Organizations, as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Education and ExperienceDiploma in Facilities Planning, Project Management, Criminal Justice and/or a related field; Trades Qualified (TQ) alarm installer and/or related TW certification; supplemented with five (5) years' recent related experience  in administering, maintaining and/or installing access control/photo identification, CCTV, duress/panic and intrusion systems, and/or associated hardware and software in a large complex multi-site institutional or campus environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.CompetenciesDemonstrates the leadership practices of the Fraser Health Leadership Framework of Clear, Caring and Courageous and creates the conditions for people to succeed.
