Role PurposeThe Controls Technician is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment and control systems across the plant. This role ensures reliable operation of PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and electrical systems, while driving continuous improvement in equipment performance, uptime, and process capability. The position requires strong technical skills, hands-on troubleshooting, and close collaboration with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams.
Key Responsibilities- Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and control systems
- Diagnose electrical/automation issues
- Support equipment startup and commissioning
- Read schematics and control logic
- Perform preventive maintenance and calibrations
- Ensure system reliability
- Identify issues and recommend fixes
- Improve machine performance and yield
- Support automation upgrades
- Assist with RCA and downtime reduction
- Provide real-time troubleshooting
- Reduce downtime
- Train operators on equipment basics
- Maintain records and update documentation
- Follow EHS, ISO, AS9100, and LOTO standards
Experiences/Education - Required- Associate's degree (AAS) in Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field
OR High school diploma with 5-7+ years of relevant experience - Hands-on experience with industrial controls (PLC/HMI systems)
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, and automation systems
- Ability to read electrical schematics and ladder logic
Experiences/Education - Desired- Experience with PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
- Familiarity with robotics, vision systems, or motion control
- Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., aerospace, optics)
- Knowledge of SPC, Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies
- Exposure to MES, SCADA, or networked control systems
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $70,954.00 - $97,562.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
