About the Role:As a Controls Field Engineer, you will serve as the technical heartbeat of our Systems Integration team, providing essential on-site support and expertise to a diverse range of industrial clients. Your primary focus will be the hands-on execution of system startups, commissioning, and high-level troubleshooting of complex instrumentation and control circuits. In this role, you will bridge the gap between design and operation by installing, configuring, and tuning critical devices; from PLCs and VFDs to various sensors and communication protocols. You will be the go-to expert for diagnosing electrical failures and optimizing PID loops, ensuring that our clients' automated systems are safe, efficient, and fully operational.
Here's a glimpse into your day to day:- Understand and follow without exception 'LOTO and Try' Safety Protocol.
- Complete all company and client required trainings, including but not limited to Arc Flash training.
- Troubleshooting circuits up to 480VAC and safely replacing failed devices up to 120VAC.
- Lead or Support Input and Output Device testing on project commissioning.
- Diagnosing failed motors and wiring.
- Troubleshooting Control Circuits, which includes 24VDC, 120 VAC, Analog, Serial comms, Fieldbus, and Ethernet.
- Support troubleshooting of PLC installations, configurations and programming.
- Troubleshooting instruments and replacing failed units.
- Onsite support during system startups to perform loop checks and IQ/OQ Execution.
- Adjusting/Tuning PID loops.
- Terminating controls circuits and communications cables.
- Configuring controls devices (Instruments, Sensors, VFDs, Relays, Power Supplies, Valves).
- Mounting control devices (Drilling, Cutting, Tapping).
- Provide onsite/remote support with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs and other instruments.
You'll be a perfect fit if you have:- Associate's Degree in engineering/technology or equivalent, preferably electrical and/or automation engineering/technology. Relevant work experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
- 5 - 10 years' of automation and electrical experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Must be able to be self-directed and proactive in planning the next steps of work. Proficient in utilizing MS Office, Teams, emails, phone calls, and other avenues of communication.
- Must have the potential to work independently with the customer.
- Must be able to lead a team on commissioning projects.
Entry Level Capability (Required):
- Must be able to work the V=IR, and P=VI Formulas.
- Must be able to read and interpret electrical diagrams.
- Must know the different types of control electrical wires.
- Must be able to use a DMM to measure Voltage and current for up to 480 VAC.
- Must be able to set up a simple VFD.
- Must be able to troubleshoot simple across-the-line starter circuits.
Intermediate Capabilities (Required):
- Experience with using P&ID drawings in troubleshooting I&C issues
- Must be able to red-line a controls drawing set
- Must be able to correctly select the right type of control cable for general areas
- Must be able to troubleshoot and guide replacement of a VFD
- Must be able to troubleshoot reversing and two speed starter circuits.
- Must be able to connect HART communicator and troubleshoot connection problems.
- Must be able to configure and troubleshoot simple ethernet device connections.
- Set the IP address and the Gateway address.
- Use Web interface tools, Bootp and DHCP.
- Troubleshoot connections using IP and MAC Addresses, using Ping and ARP Tables.
- Configure NAT devices.
Compensation and Benefits:- Pay:
- Engineer 1: $60,000-80,000 annually (depending on experience)
- Engineer 2: $75,000-105,000 annually (depending on experience)
