Controls Engineer – Maintenance- Toledo, OH

This is a 2nd shift Maintenance Controls Engineer role

Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to our Toledo location.

The Role:

As Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for smooth functioning of all manufacturing equipment and manufacturing support systems in the plant. This work requires the ability to troubleshoot, maintain and repair activities of plant equipment; responsible to manage and execute plant launches and projects; the ability to make decisions based on established tools, applications, and procedures; and is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of General Motors Global Manufacturing System, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Flexible to support cross functional departments and shift schedules.

What You'll Do:

  • Technical resource for plant electricians
  • Supervise project installations by contractors and plant electricians
  • Develop and plan electrical projects
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical problems in manufacturing operation.
  • Design and modify electrical control circuits and programs
  • Support plant continuous improvement activity
  • Experience with manufacturing process equipment, knowledge of system engineering, software development & hardware integration.
  • Highly developed oral & written communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills with sensitivity to other's points of view & to make contributions to the resolution of complex manufacturing problems
  • Demonstrated ability to listen to & support Team Members.
  • Thorough understanding of planned and predictive maintenance and the Maximo system.
  • Thorough understanding of GM Safety policies, specifications, and audit module requirements

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Electrical Engineering Degree or Mechatronics degree preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in PLC Programming.
  • 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing systems.
  • Proficiency in industrial networking protocols – Profibus, Profinet, TCP/IP and EthernetIP
  • HMI software – Siemens WinCC and TIA Portal, and Rockwell FactoryTalk View 
  • PLC hardware – Rockwell ControlLogix family, Siemens 300, and Fanuc LEP
  • Servo drive systems:  Siemens 840D CNC, Siemens G120 family, Fanuc 35i CNC, and Rockwell Powerflex / Kinetix
  • Fanuc Robots - programming and troubleshooting is highly desirable, but not required.
  • This position will require overtime and off-shift production support.
