POSITION DESCRIPTIONTITLE OF POSITION: Controller
REPORTS TO: CEO
DEPARTMENT: Finance and Accounting
GENERAL PURPOSECollect, generate, present, interpret, and distribute timely and accurate financial information and assist all employees in doing their functions. Meet all financial obligations on behalf of vendors, customers, and employees.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Maintain general ledger and work with department managers to ensure accuracy.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and distribute accurate financial reports to the appropriate individuals in a timely manner.
- Prepare monthly financial performance measures with an emphasis on interpretation of data and actions to improve business performance.
- Lead payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit and collections with an emphasis on vendor and customer satisfaction.
- Manage day-to-day cash flow balances and be actively involved in long-term cash planning.
- Coordinate annual budget process.
- Review all general ledger accounts for completeness and accuracy and complete timely account reconciliations.
- Implement and maintain Cost Control Program within the department.
- Work with all taxing authorities and the accountants on any corporate and sales tax compliance.
- Be the system administrator for the web-based banking system with JP Morgan
- Work with the auditors on the annual review.
- Work with the Trustee and the valuation firm on the annual ESOP share valuation.
- Assist in the implementation of an upgraded accounting system.
- Manage accounting and credit staff.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED- Knowledge of GAAP
- Fully proficient with personal computer, Excel, and Microsoft word.
- Ability to interact with personnel at all levels in the organization.
- Ability to work discreetly with confidential information.
- Ability to work with figures and detail with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and change priorities.
- Organization and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with people outside the business as required for the job.
OTHER FUNCTIONS- Cross-train as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE NECESSARY- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent
- CPA a plus
- 10+ years' experience in accounting and finance
8) WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL SKILLS NEEDED- Indoor office environment
- Ability to sit/stand for 8 hours while typing on a computer keyboard.
- Ability to speak articulately for 8 hours.
- Hand/eye coordination and visual acuity in near/mid ranges
- Manual dexterity using both hands and fingers to type on a keyboard and dial phone, reaching with arms/hands.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.Salary: $100,000-$140,000 - depending upon experience
