Job Description

Shift: 1st shift

Days of Work: Monday - Friday

Work Hours: 8:00am to 5:00 pm

Work Location: On-site (North Mankato, MN)

Starting Salary: $100,300 to $150,500 Annually

Pay Frequency: Bi-Weekly

Position Objective:

Work collaboratively with the site team to develop, support, lead and drive continuous improvement in all areas of the operation to achieve measurable improvements in standardization, safety, quality, service, and cost including focus on manufacturing capability, capacity, efficiency and throughput.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute process improvement plans aligned with manufacturing and business strategies
  • Lead and drive continuous improvement activities/initiatives driving cost objectives
  • Drive significant improvements in process efficiency, quality and cost performance
  • Promote disciplined use of data, metrics, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Develop and implement lean transformation for the site including DMS, Obeya, 3Q6S, lean maturity assessment
  • Provide monthly status updates of continuous improvement activities to make changes and results visible
  • Coach and mentor others on Lean philosophy
  • Build strong working relationships by engaging team members at all levels of the organization, creating feedback loops to share information and results, and empowering people to initiate Lean concepts
  • Work as needed on high priority, customer-driven initiatives to improve site performance and capability
  • Manage and develop continuous improvement staff through coaching, performance planning, skill development to meet current and future needs of the organization


Experience/Skills:
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of the lean tools used to see waste and drive improvement
  • Demonstrated results using Lean tools and techniques
  • Systematic thinking and structured problem-solving capability
  • Demonstrated teamwork spirit and willingness to help people succeed
  • Able to get results through influence and not direct reporting
  • Ability to transition and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner in both verbal and written communications
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to learn, follow and coach proper procedure
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively, trace issues to root cause and document findings
  • Demonstrated ability to be solution oriented when faced with challenges or setbacks
  • Must be self-motivated, have a sense of urgency and take personal responsibility to drive improvements
  • Must be comfortable with rapid change, able to recognize others' resistance to change, and lead individuals and teams through the change process
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel


Education:
  • Bachelor's degree Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline, or comparable combination of education and experience
  • Training or equivalent experience related to continuous improvement and Lean methodology
