Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Continuous Improvement leader to direct our improvement efforts. In this role you will be the key team member pulling various teams together to review suggestions, identify opportunities, improve processes, and communicate outcomes. The most successful individual in this role would be engaging, encouraging team members to share ideas and thoughts on ways to improve. They would be inspiring, sharing excitement for continuous improvement activities. They would be an excellent communicator and facilitator, ensuring team members feel their ideas are valued and reviewed for potential. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: • Provides continuous improvement (CI) direction and leadership to employees throughout the company. • Develops CI progress metrics and shares status regularly to the organization. • Facilitates CI activities regularly including but not limited to "Fix what bugs you", kaizen events, and waste walks. • Maintains 3S (5S) supply carts. • Provides training on general and specific lean topics as needed to increase organization lean knowledge base. • Collaborates with CI partners on the Astronics Lean Team. • Seeks out Lean and CI educational materials and opportunities that benefit the organization (benchmarking, tours, webinars, literature, etc.) • Prioritizes improvement opportunities by engaging with stakeholders throughout the company. • Provides organizational support for visual controls. • Produces presentation materials (photos and/or videos) representing before and after conditions of improvements. • Observes safety and security procedures. Actions potentially unsafe conditions. Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experiences: • Strong knowledge base and ability to teach concepts such as: 5S, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, Spaghetti Diagram, Set-up Reduction (SMED), Line Balancing, 8 Wastes (Value add / Non-Value add analysis), and Pull Systems. • Bachelor's degree preferred plus 3-5 years of related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience. • Lean or Six Sigma Black Belt certificate preferred. • Must be computer proficient with a variety of software packages (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, etc.) • Established track record applying CI tools to achieve improved business results. • Excel VBA, VB.Net or similar programming is a plus. • CAD (SolidWorks) experience is a plus.
