Full Job Description
Piper Companies is seeking a Consultant to support a mission-critical Department of Defense customer in the Washington, DC / Northern Virginia area. This role will focus on the design, development, integration, and enhancement of Appian applications that support secure federal workflows and operational requirements. The ideal candidate will have hands-on Appian development experience, strong application integration skills, and the ability to collaborate with both technical teams and government stakeholders in a secure federal environment.

Responsibilities for the Consultant include:
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain Appian applications , workflows, and business process solutions using record types, interfaces, process models, business rules, and related platform components.
  • Translate customer requirements into functional Appian applications, user stories, and technical solutions that support mission and business objectives.
  • Build, maintain, and troubleshoot integrations between Appian and enterprise systems using REST APIs, SOAP, JDBC , databases, and other integration technologies.
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, project teams, and government stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, testing, demonstrations, and deployments.
  • Support ongoing application enhancements, maintenance, and issue resolution while ensuring compliance with federal security requirements .


Qualifications for the Consultant include:
  • Professional experience in software development, application development, technical consulting, or a related technical discipline.
  • Hands-on experience developing Appian applications , including record types, interfaces, process models, business rules, and related application components.
  • Experience integrating Appian with APIs, databases, enterprise systems, and external applications.
  • Experience with REST APIs, SOAP, JDBC, SQL, and relational databases.
  • Understanding of software development principles and experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Active Secret clearance or higher preferred ; experience supporting DoD or federal customers, Appian certifications, Appian Data Fabric, AWS, and Security+, CISSP, or related certifications are a plus.


Compensation for the Consultant includes:

Salary Range: $155,00-$165,000 depending on experience

Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO, and sick leave as required by law
