Full Job Description
SUMMARY: The Construction Manager - Electrical (CM - Electrical) develops crews, monitors progress and ensures projects stay on schedule and within allotted time and cost budgets. The CM is responsible for ensuring projects are properly planned, including ordering and receiving materials, coordinating equipment availability, and ensuring crews understand the plan to execute successfully and safely within the given timelines.

  • The Electrical CM reviews designs, procures materials, and oversees the installation and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure compliance with specifications and safety regulations.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Construction Management:
    1. Plan, coordinate, and manage project construction from start to finish, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
    2. Assist the Project Manager with the creation of critical path schedules for new sites.
    3. Maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
    4. Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective measures to ensure timely completion in co-ordination with other construction managers when required.
    5. Ensure project resources such as materials, tools, and equipment are scheduled and delivered per the project plan.
    6. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and safety guidelines.
    7. Coordinate and communicate with project stakeholders, including other construction managers, project managers, customers, and subcontractors.
  • Team Leadership and Coordination:
    1. Supervise and lead crews and subcontractors, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and adherence to project goals and ratios.
    2. Assign tasks, provide technical guidance, and resolve any conflicts or issues that may arise.
    3. Foster a collaborative work environment, promoting effective communication and teamwork among team members.
    4. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to support their professional development.
    5. Manage, reviews and approve daily time and reporting from assigned Foreman and Subcontractors.
    6. Create and monitor two-week look-ahead and daily schedules for assigned crew types.
  • Quality Control and Safety:
    1. Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of workmanship and compliance with project requirements.
    2. Conduct regular inspections to identify and rectify any defects, deviations, or non-compliance issues.
    3. Promote and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, training and regulations, creating a safe work environment for all personnel on-site.


  • For Electrical CMs - Electrical System Design and Implementation:
    1. Review electrical engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
    2. Coordinate the procurement of electrical materials and equipment, ensuring compliance with project requirements and budget constraints.
    3. Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, verifying compliance with design specifications and safety standards.


  • Other duties as assigned


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3 - 5 years related experience as a Foreman or Construction Manager in Electrical.
  • Strong understanding of the safety processes, OSHA requirements, and work done on construction sites, for one of the following construction specialties: Civil, Mechanical, Telecommunications, or Electrical.
  • Possess or can obtain certifications/licenses in OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, RF Awareness, Blood Borne Pathogens, DOT Health Card (Company provides training to assist in obtaining/renewing required certifications)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, crews, job sites, and customers
  • Proven ability to focus on daily construction processes as well as look ahead to anticipate and plan for upcoming work
  • Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, and SOW
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively, clearly, and succinctly through spoken and written forms with peers, management, and customers. Able to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
  • Ability to learn and use Premise provided software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products/construction management software
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and attention to detail skills
  • This job requires travel 80% of the time.
  • Valid driver's license required. This position involves driving. A DOT Medical Card is preferred; however, assistance will be provided to obtain one if needed.
  • Professional certifications in construction management are preferred.
  • For Electrical CMs only - MN Electrical Journeyworker License or an equivalent electrical license from another state is required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, lift, squat, push, pull, climb stairs and ladders, hear, see, reach, grasp, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, power tools, motorized vehicles, and equipment. The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift more than 50 lbs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will work both inside in a normal indoor office environment and outside at remote job sites. The employee may be exposed to extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, wet, or humid. The employee may work in high places, and/or work around moving mechanical parts, vehicles and other equipment. The employee may also work in areas where the noise volume is loud and constant. The employee must have the ability to travel to remote job sites up to 80% as needed, which may include overnight stays.
