Position Title: Construction Logistics Specialist IV (CALM Night Shift Area Resident Manager)
Location: Los Angeles, CA - (On-Site) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) - Central Terminal Area (CTA), Terminals, Landside, and Airside/AOA locations (candidates must be willing and able to work on-site in accordance with LAWA policy; a LAWA Badge and federal background check are required)
Schedule: Night Shift - reports to the Principal Construction Inspector and works in conjunction with the Roadway Area Resident Manager Lead
Salary Range: $170,000 - $175,000 annually
Job Description:
- Leads the Nightly Huddle that occurs at 2330 hrs. with Airport Operations support, and distributes the Roadway Bulletin, Terminal Bulletin, and Daily Roadway Map to attendees.
- Performs Site Checks at each location within the CTA, Terminals, and AOA areas with active construction activities deployed during each shift, including verifying personnel counts, confirming the correct Approved Shutdown Request (ASR) is in hand and posted on vehicle dashes, verifying correct barricading and signage, confirming scheduled deliveries are contained within the approved ASR, and communicating compliance with the Safety and Inspection team.
- Contacts LAWA Airport Police and Airport Operations to have vehicles or equipment removed from the CTA when found parked curbside without the correct paperwork or a No Cite/No Tow authorization.
- Takes and labels photographs of each deployed project working in the CTA, Terminals, and AOA locations, capturing vehicle and equipment deployment, active construction, traffic and passenger movement, and barricades and signage.
- Produces a Nightly Report with both a written narrative and photographic component for each deployed project, posts it to the CALMSHARE site, saves it to the V Drive, and distributes it to a predetermined stakeholder list.
- Maintains thorough familiarity with the scope and schedule for all active projects (LAWA CIP, Maintenance, Airline, Concessionaire, TSA, etc.) within the CTA, Terminals, and AOA locations.
- Acts as the responsible party to ensure all construction in public areas has appropriate barricades and signage per the approved ASR, working with contractors to correct deficiencies and reporting to the CALM Sign Shop Manager when additional signage is required.
- Works with The Development Group (TDG) Element representatives, Facilities Maintenance Group (FMUG), Airport Operations (OPS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Information Technology Group (IMTG), TDG Safety/Inspections, and LAWA Airport Police Traffic Officers to develop protocols facilitating orderly shutdowns with minimum disruption to passengers, tenants, and contractors.
- Meets regularly with the CALM Area Resident Manager - Lead to make recommendations concerning procedures, protocols, and staffing, and develops appropriate tracking and record-keeping tools.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of twenty (20) years of Construction Management field experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of airport experience, or five (5) years of experience in other critical environment facilities.
- Ability to assume additional responsibilities beyond the role outlined above.
- Proven accuracy, reliability, priority-setting, and completeness in job accomplishment.
- Demonstrated planning, controlling, organizing, and leadership skills in previous positions.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues to a non-technical audience.
- Must be able to work under pressure on high-profile, complicated assignments.
- Ability to understand the design and construction intent of projects.
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree required.
Knowledge/Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Proficient in Adobe software, namely Acrobat and InDesign.
- Able to review and edit documents in Bluebeam.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project for schedule tracking and reporting.
Work Environment
Regular interaction with contractors, airport operations, safety and inspection teams, airport police, and project stakeholders is a core responsibility of this position. Frequent nighttime site visits throughout the CTA, terminals, parking structures, landside roadway areas, and airside/AOA locations are required to support active construction oversight, ASR compliance, field coordination, and timely reporting. This role is ideal for a construction management professional who is comfortable working overnight in an active airport environment, can make sound decisions under pressure, and brings strong communication, organization, and field coordination skills to a safety-sensitive, highly regulated program.
