Full Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Computational Scientist position is responsible for providing computational solutions to biological/clinical researchers, utilizing various techniques to explore, analyze, and visualize data from a wide range of complex biological and biomedical data sources. The Computational Scientist will also utilize the University's high performance computing resource to facilitate data collection and analysis, parallel computing, and large-scale data storage.

This position will support the Computational Psychiatry Laboratory, led by Dr. Abigail Ortiz, that is at the forefront of computational psychiatry and digital phenotyping. Their mission is to transform how mood disorders are understood and managed by harnessing the continuous, passively collected physiological data that wearable technology makes possible.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required
  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree In Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or other field related to biomedical and computational research.
  • Experience
    Experience with HPC and/or demonstrated success in publishing computational science results

JOB DUTIES
  • Support faculty and research staff in adapting computational strategies to the domain specific needs of the research lab.
  • Working with a range of systems and technologies such as high-performance compute cluster, parallel file systems, high speed interconnects, GPU-based computing, and database servers.
  • Develop software and methods to explore, analyze and visualize data from a wide range of complex biological and biomedical data sources (e.g., genomic, imaging, protein structure, etc.).
  • Participate in the design and execution of collaborative research studies in biomedical science.
  • Assist research team with the application and usage of computational systems to help accelerate the pace of scientific discovery.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
