Job Description
You will be the Component Engineer for the Hardware Engineering team at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC). Our team is responsible for the full lifecycle of components that power precision engagement aerospace and defense systems, from supplier qualification through delivery to the customer, ensuring reliability, traceability and compliance with strict defense standards.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Component Engineer you will manage component level risk, coordinate with suppliers and cross functional partners, and drive documentation, qualification and failure analysis activities that keep our programs on schedule and secure. You will act as the technical bridge between design, manufacturing, quality and external customers. Your responsibilities will include
• Plan, direct and review all component related project documentation to meet customer contracts and internal LM standards.
• Create and maintain Source Control Drawings (SCDs) in accordance with Lockheed Martin processes.
• Review datasheets, evaluate part performance and flag potential obsolescence or counterfeit risks.
• Manage subcontractor supplied parts, including generation, review and approval of Non Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPARs).
• Produce engineering documents and drawings for new component releases and qualifications, and process engineering change requests.
• Lead or support failure analysis, non compliance investigations and mitigation of prohibited items (e.g., pure tin solder).
• Conduct trade studies and testing for new designs or obsolescence replacement parts.
• Coordinate with suppliers on new releases, road maps and end of life schedules, tracking component road maps.
• Support Manufacturing and Quality engineers with technical issues, verification of handling procedures and part traceability.
• Partner with Design Engineers to select approved, reliable components that meet performance and schedule goals.
• Provide technical guidance to program managers on component qualification, performance risks and specification interpretation.
• Travel periodically to customer and supplier sites to validate processes and resolve issues on site.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related STEM field from an accredited university
• Minimum 1 year of professional experience in Component Engineering or component-related experience such as circuit card manufacturing, SMT process, thermal profiling of critical components, troubleshooting, cable assembly, and understanding of component commodity and package types including moisture-sensitive parts
• Basic knowledge of electronic components and their usage in circuit card / electrical engineering design, including passive components (resistors, capacitors, inductors) and active components (FPGAs, Op Amps, Memories, Processors, SoMs, SoCs)
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and interface with Government Customers, manufacturers, and test houses
• Must be a US Citizen; must possess or be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
Desired skills
• Basic knowledge of component engineering tools / Product Lifecycle Management tools such as Windchill PLM or Agile PLM
• Previous experience in Component Engineering with knowledge of electronic components and devices (e.g., Circuit Card Assembly (CCA), qualification tests)
• Basic knowledge of electrical component manufacturing process and physical property analysis
• Proficiency with Silicon Expert and related obsolescence tools
• Basic knowledge of Parts Management Plan (component approval plan, component obsolescence management, lead-free reports, analysis and handling, counterfeit prevention)
• Basic knowledge in missile weapon systems
• Ability to learn task-specific tools such as Silicon Expert, IHS BOM Intelligence, Windchill, and other MFC and external web-based obsolescence tools
• Good communication skills; able to effectively work with manufacturers and other external part suppliers
• Active DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $70,100 - $123,625. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Premium Pay Statement

For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
