Position Summary

HackerOne is looking for a Community Manager, Hacking Events to join our HackerOne Community Team and help some of our largest customers secure their products via our live hacking event program! This is a perfect role for someone who knows security and enjoys helping others level-up their knowledge. The Community Manager will work closely with HackerOne internal stakeholders as well as our customers and researchers to help plan, launch, and execute our Live Hacking Events as well as support other Community driven events like Hacker Meet-ups.

As a customer-facing member of our Community Team, a core function of this role is to provide strategic support to customer accounts, internal stakeholders, and our hacker community. This role will work directly with our customers to ensure that our Live Hacking Events are successful while driving meaningful results for their security teams, and bringing engagement and opportunity to our HackerOne hacker community.

At HackerOne, we embrace a Flexible Work approach, enabling our team members to work remotely while maintaining productivity and collaboration. We are seeking candidates located in Seattle, San Francisco, Austin, or Washington, DC, and the surrounding metropolitan areas, to facilitate occasional in-person interactions as needed. While the position is primarily remote, there will be periodic in-person requirements to support team collaboration and foster stronger connections. This approach ensures flexibility while providing opportunities to build meaningful in-person relationships that strengthen our team and company culture.

What You Will Do
  • Operational ownership of assigned HackerOne's live hacking events offerings with customers and stakeholders, including customer and hacker management
  • Responsible for primary project management oversight and organization assigned live hacking events, from customer pre-engagement, kickoff, planning, execution, to post-event analysis
  • Plan and coordinate in-person and virtual event logistics and overall project management, including budget alignment and execution, primary vendor management, event scheduling and communication, overseeing your logistics team to ensure optimal success
  • Use your customer success expertise to help customers initiate, plan, launch, and operate during the Live Hacking Events - this includes defining scope/test plans, supporting hacker engagement and working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders like sales and CSMs
  • Ability to serve as escalation for mediations, customer or researcher concerns to develop appropriate solutions and delivery of internal enablement to support at scale
  • Monitor the participating customers' programs to ensure they are getting the maximum value from their program, and that they're set up to keep hackers engaged and finding vulnerabilities
  • Enhance processes and playbooks to better support our Brand Ambassador Program in facilitating events in alignment with our partnership strategy
  • Provide additional support for Flagship Live Hacking Events throughout the calendar year


Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of customer-facing or consulting experience
  • 2+ years of experience with project management to appropriate plan and delegate requirements for successful program execution
  • Experience with security client engagements, e.g., pentesting, security consulting, vulnerability management, etc. preferred
  • A self-directed, action-oriented individual with the ability to analyze and solve problems, perform complex tasks and prioritize multiple projects
  • Must be willing to travel: up to 20% travel required
  • Alignment with HackerOne's values: customer obsessed, default to disclosure, win together
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to demonstrate empathy with multiple audiences
  • You will be an advocate for both hackers and customers, and will need to appropriately influence and push back when needed to help both be successful
