DescriptionThis position is dedicated to translating complex scientific data into clear, concise, and accessible information for various target audiences, ranging from the general public to decision-makers and upper management.
Key Responsibilities: - Develop and execute long-term strategic communication plans and write, edit, and design electronic newsletters (such as NOAA Climate Connections and Climate.gov Weekly).
- Communicate scientific data visually through illustrations, graphs, data visualizations, and videos.
- Translate scientific and policy information into audience-appropriate talking points, web features, reports, and briefing sheets.
- Organize and facilitate workshops, town halls, and seminars to promote information exchange between NOAA, universities, NGOs, and the public.
- Design, update, and manage website content for programs, ensuring alignment with NOAA guidelines.
Required: - BS/BA in relevant fields
- Proven experience (> 5 years) in science communications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Ability to understand in-depth science concepts, articulate findings and accomplishments, and communicate to both scientific and general audiences
- Good working knowledge in science-based website content design and development.
Preferred: - Strong knowledge of NOAA science research and development priorities and status, organization, partners, and internal/external stakeholders
- Previous experience in a similar capacity
