Description
This position is dedicated to translating complex scientific data into clear, concise, and accessible information for various target audiences, ranging from the general public to decision-makers and upper management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute long-term strategic communication plans and write, edit, and design electronic newsletters (such as NOAA Climate Connections and Climate.gov Weekly).
  • Communicate scientific data visually through illustrations, graphs, data visualizations, and videos.
  • Translate scientific and policy information into audience-appropriate talking points, web features, reports, and briefing sheets.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops, town halls, and seminars to promote information exchange between NOAA, universities, NGOs, and the public.
  • Design, update, and manage website content for programs, ensuring alignment with NOAA guidelines.

Required:
  • BS/BA in relevant fields
  • Proven experience (> 5 years) in science communications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to understand in-depth science concepts, articulate findings and accomplishments, and communicate to both scientific and general audiences
  • Good working knowledge in science-based website content design and development.

Preferred:
  • Strong knowledge of NOAA science research and development priorities and status, organization, partners, and internal/external stakeholders
  • Previous experience in a similar capacity

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project), Google Workspace (Mail, Docs, Sheets, Slides)
