Second Order Controls - a division of ARCO/Murray National Construction - is seeking a highly motivated Cx Project Manager to join our Commissioning team based in Chicago, IL. Typical base compensation for the Project Manager role is between $84,000.00 and $160,000.00. Candidates with extensive experience may exceed this range. In addition to base salary, the role is eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation based on individual and company performance.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Perform commissioning on mechanical, electrical, controls, and process systems.
  • Act as the commissioning lead for ARCO's largest, most complex projects. In this role, you will be responsible for all pre-commissioning, functional testing, and troubleshooting activities, with the resource backing of all ARCO assets and trade partners.
  • Work directly with ARCO customers and end-users regarding commissioning status, engagement of client operations staff, and facility turnover.
  • Troubleshooting is a major element in this role. Candidate will not only be responsible for identifying issues, but also guiding issues from discovery, through troubleshooting/root cause analysis, to final issue resolution. This must be accomplished by taking a hands-on approach and completely owning the issue through resolution.
  • Project types include Mission Critical, Advanced Manufacturing, Power & Gas Infrastructure, Municipal and Private Water Treatment, Waste-to-Value, Commercial, Controlled Environments Agriculture, and more.
  • Operate as the bridge between design and construction teams. Coordinate system design with installation between clients, subcontractors, and equipment vendors in a way that ensures the seamless turnover of ARCO's projects.
  • Create and execute pre-commissioning equipment checklists to maintain state-of-the-art quality system installations.
  • Create and execute commissioning test scripts that verify correct operation of the installed systems.
  • Lead project commissioning meetings that accurately set expectations and coordinate schedules for all trades.
  • Effectively convey information to onsite superintendents and subcontractors using employee's knowledge of the project's systems.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (with a focus in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in Mission Critical, Power Infrastructure, or Water Treatment preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with different types of individuals
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles (HVAC, thermodynamics, heat transfer, process engineering)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated, with the ability to successfully work on own
  • Comfortable with spending time on construction jobsite - approximately 50%.
  • Familiar with construction practices and principles
  • Certification in building commissioning (QCxP, CCP, CxA or similar) is preferred but not required
