Job Description
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Commercial Manager is a key role within the company responsible for overseeing the development, pricing, and profitability of products or services. Their main objective is to drive revenue growth and maximize profitability by strategically managing product portfolios and pricing strategies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Responsible for developing and implementing pricing strategies that align with business objectives and market dynamics. Analyze pricing data, customer behavior, and market trends to determine optimal pricing structures. Monitor and adjust pricing strategies based on market changes. Collaborate with senior commercial management to develop quarterly and annual budgets and forecasts.
• Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and R&D, to define and develop new products or improve existing ones. Conduct market research and analysis to identify customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape where HBE implement booking strategies to ensure the company meets the stated volume, revenue, and EBIT goals. Actively contributing to HBE senior team to identify and justify CAPEX projects.
• Responsible for conducting 'Profitability Analysis' through thorough financial analysis to evaluate product(s) profitability and identify opportunities for cost optimization. Monitor and analyze pricing performance and its impact on overall profitability. Make data-driven recommendations to improve profitability and revenue growth.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, such as marketing, sales, finance, purchasing (raw materials and revert), and operations, to ensure effective, pricing execution, and overall business success. Foster strong relationships and effective communication across teams.
• Accountable for providing timely information, advice and guidance to Sales and Commercial personnel on all pricing elements. Set clear goals, provide regular feedback on the generation of new sales leads and opportunities. Responsible for maintaining/managing company price book(s)/sheets(s). Including but not limited to internal price sheets, customer specific price sheets, and LTA/Contracts.
• Update and maintain Budget vs Actual analysis to enable targeted approach with Sales Team. Identify misses on customer, product, asset, and margin positions to drive strategy of sales organization.
• Responsible for monitoring Sales and Commercial statistics and communicate on an as needed basis. Full feedback on variances, lost business profile, market conditions, upcoming projects/opportunities, production cost issues, and customer satisfaction levels.
• Manage and maintain contract wish list, ensure all contracts clauses are carried out correctly, identify gaps/wants, negotiate extensions, renewals and new contracts driven by commercial actuals and aspirations.
• Responsible for maintaining historic records for performance data to be used for market, customer and business analysis and future decision making.
• Provide mentoring support and development for identified members of staff to maintain all regular reporting metrics.
• Responsible for forging and maintaining close relationships with other PCC businesses to ensure consistency and alignment of sales and pricing philosophy.
• Any other ad-hoc duties as maybe required from time to time.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide cover for the Sales and Commercial Manager during holiday periods, when travelling or as requested. This includes representing the Sales and Commercial functions with the Senior Leadership team.
• Accomplishes all tasks as appropriate.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum BA/BS in business or engineering related fields.
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a commercial/financial analyst role or similar essential.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
• Able to write and present papers and articles representing the HBE operation and our capabilities.
• Proficient in operating at senior levels of an organization.
• Excellent communication and negotiating skills.
• Strong, demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to recruit train and develop sales and data management resources.
• Business and Financial analysis skills to evaluate and assess business opportunities, profitability; good understanding of cost, and ability to calculate and quote required profit margins.
• Fully proficient in use of Microsoft Office products and other computer applications as utilized by the company. Demonstrated ability to enter, retrieve, communicate, and research information; prepare reports or sales presentations; efficient and accurate in keyboarding skills. Excel skillset is critical to the success of the position.
• Provide regular intelligence, leadership, and communication with respect to competitive challenges, and changes within market and or changes affecting customer base allowing Special Metals time to address challenges and/or seize new opportunities.

Relocation is authorized for this position.
