Austin Surgical (Encore Medical) is an orthopedic implant and instrument design, development, and manufacturing facility.

Job Title/High-Level Position Summary:

Enovis is seeking a CNC Machine Programming Supervisor to lead and support CNC programming activities within our Austin manufacturing site. This role is responsible for providing daily direction to the CNC programming function while developing, modifying, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs that support machining operations for orthopedic implant components and related medical device products.

The CNC Machine Programming Supervisor will partner closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and Operations to ensure CNC programs and machining processes are efficient, repeatable, compliant, and capable of meeting production and quality requirements. This role requires strong technical CNC programming expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to drive process improvements in a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can coach and support team members, troubleshoot complex machining challenges, and drive performance related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and support CNC programmers and machining support team members.
  • Oversee CNC programming activities to support production schedules, new product launches, process improvements, and business priorities.
  • Develop, edit, optimize, and maintain CNC programs for CNC mills, CNC lathes, DMG MORI equipment, and other machining equipment.
  • Review CNC programs to ensure accuracy, repeatability, quality, and compliance with internal standards.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, GD&T, and work instructions.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, fixtures, programming, cycle times, dimensional accuracy, and part quality.
  • Support tooling selection, fixture design, setup documentation, work holding strategies, and standard work.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, Materials, and Operations to support production needs and resolve issues.
  • Lead process improvement efforts to reduce scrap, improve cycle times, increase throughput, and improve equipment utilization.
  • Work with Quality to resolve nonconformances, deviations, inspection concerns, and process-related issues.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to machining defects, programming errors, or process failures.
  • Ensure CNC programs, documentation, and machining processes comply with SOPs, cGMP requirements, quality procedures, and company policies.
  • Support workload planning, prioritization, and resource allocation for CNC programming activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to machinists, operators, programmers, and production teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, revisions, tooling information, setup sheets, and related manufacturing documentation.
  • Use data to identify trends, drive improvements, and improve machining performance.
  • Support lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and EGX initiatives.
  • Escalate equipment, process, safety, quality, or staffing concerns in a timely manner.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, compliance, technical excellence, and continuous improvement


Minimum Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of CNC programming, machining, or manufacturing engineering support experience.
  • Prior experience leading, mentoring, or supervising technical employees preferred.
  • Experience programming CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machining equipment.
  • Experience using CAM software to create, modify, and optimize CNC programs.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, workholding, inspection methods, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ability to work under general direction while maintaining a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to support production needs while maintaining compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.

Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience programming and supporting CNC lathes and CNC mills.
  • Experience with DMG MORI machining equipment preferred.
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in medical device, aerospace, automotive, or another precision manufacturing industry.
  • Experience machining titanium, cobalt chrome, stainless steel, or other medical-grade materials.
  • Experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis machining.
  • Experience with Swiss machining, mill-turn, or complex part programming.
  • Experience with Mastercam, GibbsCAM, Esprit, NX, SolidWorks, or similar CAD/CAM software.
  • Experience supporting lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
