Cloud Engineer for a hybrid opportunity for candidates Columbia, SC. The Candidate will provide senior-level cloud architecture expertise to support enterprise cloud infrastructure, platform operations, and cloud migration initiatives across a large public-sector technology environment. The Candidate will partner with technical teams to design, implement, and optimize secure, scalable cloud solutions while supporting governance, automation, and enterprise cloud adoption.
Required Qualifications of the Cloud Engineer:- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to provide sponsorship or work with Third-Party agencies.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
- 8+ years of technical architecture experience with hands-on engineering responsibilities.
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, DevOps, or enterprise architecture.
- Strong experience designing and supporting AWS cloud environments, including IAM, Organizations, networking, and cost management.
- Experience administering Microsoft Azure environments, including RBAC, Azure Active Directory, networking, and governance.
- Experience developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform.
- Experience with enterprise cloud architecture, cloud governance, cloud migrations, and platform operations.
- Strong technical leadership skills with experience mentoring team members and transferring technical knowledge.
- Expertise designing, implementing, and supporting secure public cloud infrastructure solutions.
Preferred Skills/Experience of the Cloud Engineer:- AWS and/or Microsoft Azure certifications.
- Advanced knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or other container orchestration platforms.
- Background in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Software Development, or Systems Engineering.
- Experience with cloud security, penetration testing, threat detection, and governance tools.
- Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as ServiceNow, Datadog, Dome9, Aviatrix, or similar technologies.
- Experience with configuration management, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation.
Responsibilities of the Cloud Engineer:- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise cloud infrastructure across AWS and Microsoft Azure environments.
- Perform cloud platform administration, automation, and Infrastructure as Code development to improve operational efficiency.
- Support cloud migration initiatives by collaborating with technical teams and business stakeholders to transition workloads into enterprise cloud environments.
- Ensure the reliability, security, and availability of shared cloud services while promoting governance and operational best practices.
- Provide technical leadership, architectural guidance, and knowledge transfer to engineering teams and project stakeholders.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of enterprise cloud strategy, modernization initiatives, and cloud platform capabilities.
Work Location: Hybrid work schedule with approximately three onsite days per month in Columbia, SC.
