CLINICAL SUPERVISOR

Position Summary

A clinically competent registered professional nurse who delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Supervises delegates and coordinates the patient care provided throughout the Maternal Child Services. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competency in regards to Labor & Delivery, Maternal Child, Well Baby and Special Care Nursery. Effectively interacts with the patient, significant others, and health care team members while maintaining the standards of professional nursing. Works directly under the supervision of the Director of Maternal Child Services.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with preceptors and preceptee and coordinates with Clinical Coordinator regarding performance.
  • Assist in coordinating with Manager for employee schedules, vacation, and PTO requests
  • Staffing in coordination with Director, House Supervisors, and other managers.
  • Manages call-in's and replacement
  • Handle concurrent patient complaints, concerns and issues and documents appropriately
  • Delegation of POCT'S, RN, and UC'S assignments
  • Performs oral and written disciplinary action with affirmation of Director.
  • Investigate all occurrences to include writing a detailed report to the Director.
  • In charge of completing or assigning QA items : crash cart, temp logs, white glove, point of care testing logs and controls, and other QA issues
  • In charge, with assistance of Clinical Coordinator for all emergency codes: green, orange, etc.
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competency of L&D, Maternal child and Nursery drugs, to include Pitocin; Magnesium Sulfate; Insulin and triple antibiotic therapy
  • Able to complete daily assessments for care of mother and neonate
  • Able to assist with stabilization of infants in Special Care and understands all procedures
  • Participate in annual education days


Requirements

  • Current RN Ohio Licensure
  • Minimum five years clinical experience; three in MC/LD setting.
  • Completion of full training in 2 of 3 areas in unit, with modified cross-training in 3rd area.
  • BLS Certification (Mandatory)
  • NRP Certification (Mandatory)
  • Must have comprehensive working knowledge of proper daily functioning of the unit.
  • Acts as a mentor and resource for new employees
