Unit Summary

The Clinical Manager will be responsible for the Maternal-Newborn Unit, Colposcopy Program, and Ambulatory Care Clinics (ACC in new build 2025).

Specific areas of responsibility are:
• Maternal/Newborn unit - provides labour, birth and post-partum care to low risk mothers and newborns. Gynecology patients are also admitted to this unit. Unit staff also provide selected antenatal and postnatal out-patient assessments.
• Colposcopy Clinic
• Outpatient Mental Health
• Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic
• GIMRAC
• Ambulatory Care Clinics (2025)

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director - Community Programs, the Clinical Manager functions according to the Accountability Statement for Clinical Managers. In a manner consistent with the vision, values and strategic goals of Hamilton Health Sciences, the Clinical Manager is accountable for managing all activities related to safe, efficient patient care delivery at the unit level. The Clinical Manager is responsible for day-to-day issues related to staffing and care delivery. The Clinical Manager is accountable for integrating into their clinical area(s) the organization's practice standards related to the following domains: quality patient care, fiscal management, human resource management, communications, education and research, and strategic planning. The Clinical Manager fosters an environment where people are engaged. The Clinical Manager influences behaviours in order to support the delivery of high quality patient care. The Clinical Manager engineers processes that ensures continued quality improvement, optimizes future positioning and translates unit, program, and corporate objectives to their respective clinical areas.

Schedule Work Hours

Monday to Friday days; 37.5 hour

Qualifications

1. Current Registration with a recognized Regulated Health Discipline College in Ontario

2. Baccalaureate Degree within a health profession, or a combination of other relevant academic background

3. Minimum of 3 years recent relevant leadership experience within the acute care clinical setting

4. Formal continuing education in Project Management preferred

5. Skill in supporting and mentoring staff to enhance knowledge skill and judgment within their practice

6. Demonstrated leadership and co-ordination skills in a fast paced environment

7. Demonstrated creativity and innovation in the delivery of patient care service

8. Demonstrated excellence in communication, team-building, and ability to initiate, model and support change in a constructive manner

9. Demonstrated advanced critical thinking skill

10. Demonstrated ability and knowledge to access and utilize hospital resource

11. Demonstrated evidence of continuous education and lifelong learning

12. Demonstrated commitment to the mission, vision and values of HHS and WLMH
