Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Diagnostic Immunology and Flow Cytometry Laboratory is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist II (CLS II) to join a highly specialized and collaborative team. Our testing menu is diverse and dynamic, supporting advanced diagnostics across multiple disciplines. This role contributes to a broad scope of laboratory testing, including:
- Allergy, autoimmune, and infectious disease serologies
- Hemoglobinopathies
- Routine and esoteric immunophenotyping
- Leukemia and lymphoma diagnostics
- Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) testing using flow cytometry
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II performs a variety of standard and complex laboratory procedures across one or more clinical laboratory disciplines, exercising independent judgment and initiative in daily operations.
The CLS II functions as a licensed laboratory professional, contributing both technical expertise and mentorship within a fast-paced, highly specialized diagnostic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct and interpret moderate- to high-complexity laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols
- Communicate technical findings and general updates to leadership, including managers, directors, and medical staff
- Serve as a technical resource for Clinical Lab Technicians and other staff
- Support training by providing instruction on laboratory theory, procedures, and applications
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including California Business and Professions Code, CLIA, and other governing agencies
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Required: - 2 to 5 years of relevant clinical experience with at least 1 year in the area of specialty.

- Experience with flow cytometry testing, CERNER EMR system, immunoassays, and clinical laboratory quality assurance.
- ASCP Board of Registry certification as Medical Technologist, or other specialty.
- Basic Microsoft Excel skills
Education/Licensure/Certifications: Required:- Bachelor's degree meeting California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Laboratory Field Services academic requirements.
- Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License
Pay Scale Information $99,008.00-$162,656.00CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates who meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates who exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
