Job Summary
The Clinical Director (LCSW) provides leadership and clinical oversight for an OASAS certified outpatient program specializing in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) with
Suboxone (Buprenorphine). The Clinical Director ensures that services are delivered in accordance with OASAS Part 822 regulations, evidence-based practices, and agency policies.
This role is responsible for clinical supervision, program compliance, quality assurance, and coordination between medical and behavioral health services to ensure safe, effective, and
person-centered care.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Oversight & Supervision
• Provide individual and group clinical supervision to LCSWs, CASACs, and counseling
staff in accordance with OASAS and NYSED standards.
• Oversee the clinical quality of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and
discharge summaries for compliance and best practices.
• Collaborate closely with medical staff (MDs, NPs, RNs) to support integrated MAT
services, ensuring alignment between medical and counseling components.
• Facilitate case conferences, crisis intervention support, and clinical case reviews to
promote continuity of care and patient safety.
• Ensure the integration of trauma-informed, harm reduction, and motivational
interviewing approaches throughout service delivery.
Program Administration & Regulatory Compliance
• Maintain compliance with OASAS Part 822 and MAT-specific regulatory requirements,
including clinical documentation, treatment planning, and medical coordination.
• Participate in OASAS audits, site visits, and incident reviews; ensure timely corrective
action implementation.
• Support medical leadership in maintaining DEA, OASAS, and CLIA compliance for on-site
drug screening and MAT dispensing.
• Oversee program admissions, transfers, and discharges in accordance with OASAS approved policies.
Medication-Assisted Treatment Coordination
• Coordinate with prescribing providers on Suboxone inductions, maintenance, and dose
adjustments, ensuring clinical and therapeutic support for each phase of care.
• Monitor urine toxicology screenings, laboratory results, and adherence monitoring
protocols for accuracy and compliance.
• Support staff in addressing cravings, relapse risk, and medication adherence through
therapeutic interventions and relapse prevention planning.
• Ensure proper informed consent, medication education, and integration of MAT goals
into individualized treatment plans.
Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement
• Conduct regular chart audits and peer reviews to ensure documentation quality,
regulatory compliance, and fidelity to clinical models.
• Participate in and help lead Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives, data analysis, and
outcomes measurement.
• Monitor clinical productivity, caseload management, and service delivery to ensure
program efficiency and client satisfaction.
Staff Development & Training
• Provide or coordinate ongoing clinical training on substance use treatment, MAT
integration, co-occurring disorders, and OASAS-required topics.
• Foster a collaborative, supportive clinical culture emphasizing ethics, empathy, and
accountability.
• Mentor new staff and interns, promoting professional growth and development.
Leadership & Collaboration
• Serve as a key member of the program's leadership team, contributing to strategic
planning, policy development, and operational improvement.
• Represent the program at external meetings, OASAS forums, and community
collaborations related to addiction treatment and MAT services.
• Work closely with administrative and billing teams to ensure clinical documentation
supports appropriate billing and utilization review standards
Qualifications
Qualifications
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in good standing in New York State (required).
• Minimum five (5) years of post-licensure experience in substance use disorder
treatment, with at least two (2) years of supervisory or management experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), particularly
Suboxone (Buprenorphine) programs.
• Strong knowledge of OASAS Part 822 regulations, trauma-informed care, and evidence based clinical interventions.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with medical and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and documentation standards
required.
Work Schedule & Environment
