Full Job Description
Claims Manager is responsible for managing employment related claims, administrative agency matters, and litigation involving Atlantic Health and its medical centers, subsidiaries, affiliates, employees, patients, board members and other related parties.
• Responsible for management of assigned Directors & Officers and Employment Practices Liability claims against all applicable parties
• Review and analyze demand letters, administrative agency complaints, lawsuits, subpoenas, and other legal documents; prepare memorandum summarizing claim including recommendations for disposition and need to assign outside counsel
• Conduct factual investigations in collaboration with Human Resources and other operational leaders
• Coordinate assignment and oversight of outside counsel on assigned matters including compliance with Atlantic Health Claims Handling Guidelines
• Coordinate, facilitate and monitor discovery, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, litigation strategy, settlement discussions and trial preparations
• Investigate, coordinate and prepare responses to and management of matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), New Jersey Division on Civil Rights (NJDCR), and Departments of Labor
• Responsible for planning and preparation of claim summaries at internal committee meetings
• Manage claims via the electronic claims management system
• Communicate internally on issues identified through litigation and support development of corrective action plans
Qualifications
Education:
• Juris Doctorate
Required:
• 5 years minimum employment litigation experience. In addition claims handling experience preferred
• Licensed Attorney in New Jersey
