Job Description

Dewberry is seeking an experienced Civil/Highway Program Manager to join our growing team in Boston, MA. In this highly visible leadership role, you'll manage complex transportation infrastructure projects, expand Dewberry's presence across New England, strengthen client relationships, and help build and lead a high-performing team. 

The ideal candidate combines technical excellence in highway design with proven project delivery, business development, and people leadership skills. 

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage large-scale highway, roadway, and transportation infrastructure projects from planning through design and delivery. 
  • Prepare and oversee design plans, engineering estimates, technical specifications, and project reports. 
  • Develop conceptual and final roadway designs, including alignments, grading, drainage, utilities, traffic control, construction staging, signage, and pavement markings. 
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and client manager for public agencies and utility clients. 
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers and project staff. 
  • Drive business development initiatives that expand market presence and increase revenue growth. 
  • Collaborate with marketing teams on client strategies, capture plans, proposals, and pursuit efforts. 
  • Build, develop, and retain a high-performing team in partnership with Operations and HR. 
  • Lead cross-functional teams and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence. 
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. 
  • Massachusetts Professional Engineer (PE) license required. 
  • 15+ years of experience in transportation, highway, roadway, or related civil engineering disciplines. 
  • Demonstrated success managing complex transportation and utility infrastructure projects. 
  • Strong expertise in roadway design, site grading, drainage and utility design, stormwater management, and maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT). 
  • Working knowledge of FHWA MUTCD, AASHTO, MassDOT, MBTA, and Massport standards. 
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D. 
  • Experience working with MassDOT, MBTA, Massport, and local Massachusetts agencies preferred. 
  • Proven track record of business development, client relationship management, and strategic growth. 
  • Strong leadership, project management, communication, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to motivate teams, manage multiple priorities, and deliver exceptional client service. 
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; local travel required.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $174,388 to $224,213 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly. These ranges are for Boston, MA only.
