Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field required.
• Minimum of 7 years professional experience in civil engineering or public works design.
• Must have a valid Professional Civil Engineer registration in Illinois.
• Valid Illinois driver's license necessary.
• Experience with project management is preferred.
• Proficient in using CAD (MicroStation Intergraph) and GIS software.
• Strong judgment and decision-making skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and participate in public works design and construction activities.
• Design civil engineering projects and maintain GIS database of utilities.
• Write specifications and contract documents, including cost estimates.
• Conduct level surveys and oversee contract surveyors during construction inspections.
• Review traffic studies for developments and perform necessary permit inspections.
• Identify and apply for grants and funding opportunities, training peers as needed.
• Prepare reports and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
