Full Job Description
Tetra Tech, Inc. is seeking an accomplished technology executive to serve as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to work closely with the Company's current CIO, with responsibility for the global IT organization.

This role will provide strategic and operational leadership across Tetra Tech's global technology environment, including core IT services and infrastructure, enterprise business applications and ERP platforms, cybersecurity, technology governance, and acquisition integration.

The CTO will partner closely with operational leaders, corporate support functions, and executive management to identify and implement technologies that improve business performance, strengthen security, increase efficiency, and create competitive advantage. The role requires the ability to address the technical, process, financial, and change-management aspects of major technology initiatives and to clearly communicate the business case, expected benefits, risks, and resource requirements.

Artificial intelligence will be an emerging area of focus. The CTO will be a partner in shaping the Company's AI strategy, governance, platforms, and adoption roadmap while ensuring that AI technologies are secure, scalable, and aligned with business priorities.

Your Role:

IT Strategy and Leadership:
  • Work closely with the current CIO to support the leadership and performance of the global IT organization
  • Develop and execute technology strategies, operating plans, and investment priorities aligned with the Company's strategic business objectives
  • Serve as a trusted technology advisor to executive leadership, operational management, and corporate support teams
  • Lead and develop a high-performing global organization composed of professionals across a broad range of technical and functional disciplines
  • Establish effective governance for prioritizing initiatives, allocating resources, managing risk, and measuring business value
  • Balance global standards and shared platforms with legitimate local business, client, regulatory, and geographic requirements

Core IT Services and Infrastructure:
  • Oversee global IT infrastructure and core IT services, including cloud platforms, networks, data centers, end-user technology, collaboration tools, service management, and technical support
  • Ensure that IT services are secure, reliable, scalable, cost-effective, and responsive to the needs of the business
  • Establish performance measures, service levels, resilience standards, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities
  • Promote ITIL based standardization, automation, operational discipline, and continuous improvement across the global IT environment
    Chief Technology Officer
  • Provide standardized platforms, policy and procedure to enable secure and scalable hosting of applications developed and managed by operational teams
  • Manage strategic relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and business partners

Enterprise Applications and Business Technology:
  • Oversee the strategy, implementation, integration, and ongoing support of enterprise business applications, including ERP, financial, human resources, project management, reporting, and operational platforms
  • Partner with business leaders to improve processes, simplify systems, increase automation, strengthen data quality, and improve employee experience
  • Establish a disciplined approach to application architecture, lifecycle management, modernization, integration, and technical debt
  • Lead major technology initiatives using effective program management, stakeholder engagement, training, and organizational change-management practices
  • Ensure that enterprise systems support the Company's operational, financial, compliance, and growth requirements

Artificial Intelligence and Innovation:
  • Help define and support an enterprise AI strategy focused on measurable improvements in productivity, technical delivery, decision-making, client service, and business development
  • Partner with operational and support teams to identify and prioritize practical AI use cases
  • Establish governance for the responsible use of AI, including cybersecurity, privacy, intellectual property, data protection, accuracy, transparency, and regulatory compliance
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and determine their relevance, scalability, risk, and potential return on investment
  • Develop clear business cases for technology initiatives, including expected benefits, costs, risks, implementation requirements, and adoption plans

Cybersecurity, Risk, and Compliance:
  • Provide executive oversight of the Company's global cybersecurity strategy, organization, controls, policies, and incident-response capabilities
  • Maintain a risk-based cybersecurity program appropriate for a global technical and engineering company serving public- and private-sector clients
  • Oversee compliance with applicable cybersecurity frameworks, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements, including ISO/IEC 27001, NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, GDPR, and other contractual and regulatory standards
  • Ensure effective management of identity and access, security operations, vulnerability remediation, data protection, third-party risk, employee awareness, and incident response
  • Partner with Legal, Internal Audit, Risk, Compliance, Human Resources, and business leadership to identify and manage technology-related risks
  • Communicate cybersecurity posture, material risks, significant incidents, and investment requirements to executive leadership and, as appropriate, the Board of Directors

Acquisitions and Integration:
  • Lead technology evaluation and due diligence for potential acquisitions, including assessments of infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, personnel, contracts, licensing, risks, technical debt, and integration costs
  • Identify material technology risks, required investments, potential synergies, and implications for transaction planning
  • Develop and execute integration plans that transition acquired businesses onto Company platforms, policies, security controls, and operating standards
  • Coordinate closely with acquisition teams, operational leadership, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, and other functions to support successful integration while maintaining business continuity
  • Establish repeatable due diligence and integration processes that support the Company's growth strategy

Governance, Policies, and Standards:
  • Develop, maintain, communicate, and monitor compliance with global IT policies, architecture principles, cybersecurity requirements, and technology standards
  • Establish practical processes for managing exceptions where local, client, contractual, or regulatory requirements differ from global standards
  • Define accountability for technology ownership, data stewardship, risk management, and policy compliance
  • Monitor technology performance, compliance, adoption, and value realization through meaningful metrics and executive reporting
  • Oversee technology budgets, major investments, vendor performance, and resource planning

Leadership Competencies:
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly in both business and technical contexts
  • The ability to translate business strategy into clear technology priorities, investment plans, and measurable outcomes
  • Broad knowledge of enterprise technology, infrastructure, cloud services, ERP systems, cybersecurity, data, AI, and IT service delivery
  • Proven ability to lead global, multidisciplinary teams within a complex and geographically distributed organization
  • Strong judgment and the ability to balance global consistency, security, efficiency, and scale with regional and client driven requirements

Experience and Qualifications:
  • At least 20 years of progressive experience in information technology, digital transformation, enterprise applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity, or related fields
  • Significant senior leadership experience of at least 5 years across multiple IT disciplines within a large, complex, and geographically distributed organization
  • Proven experience managing global teams, enterprise technology platforms, cybersecurity programs, and major technology initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to align technology strategy and investments with business priorities.
  • Experience leading enterprise systems implementations, modernization programs, and organizational change initiatives
  • Experience implementing or operating cybersecurity and compliance programs aligned with standards such as ISO/IEC 27001, NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, and GDPR
  • Experience conducting technology due diligence and integrating acquired businesses is strongly preferred
  • Experience with cloud platform vendors including Microsoft, Oracle, and ServiceNow
  • Experience in engineering, consulting, professional services, government contracting, or another project-based organization is desirable
  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, business, or a related field is preferred. An advanced degree or relevant professional certifications are beneficial
