Job Description/Responsibilities:

Cloud Software Group is seeking a Chief Privacy Officer ("CPO") to lead and provide vision for its global privacy strategy. The CPO oversees the company's global privacy program, working with a broad range of stakeholders, including senior executives, product teams, engineers, and business leaders. This person will lead a team dedicated to supporting the company's changing business needs, ensuring compliance with a dynamic landscape of privacy, AI, and data protection laws.

The CPO is a lawyer with strategic and operational privacy expertise. The successful candidate will be capable of identifying gaps in existing programs and building new processes to ensure effective compliance with a rapidly evolving regulatory environment. The CPO is expected to establish themselves as a proactive privacy leader with a vision and must have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. The successful candidate will have a proven capability to understand business needs while effectively managing risk for the company.

The CPO at Cloud Software Group reports to the Company's Vice President, Legal, and leads global data privacy, AI governance, and data protection strategies, acting as a key advisor to executives. The CPO's responsibilities include overseeing regulatory compliance for privacy, data, and AI governance, including leading a team responsible for handling data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs) and data subject rights (DSR) requests.

Required Experience/Skills:
  • Law degree and at least 10 years of relevant privacy experience, including time in house. Ideally, the candidate will have over five years of experience in the SaaS B2B industry.
  • Global privacy expertise with specific knowledge of privacy regulations and industry standards in all major markets/jurisdictions, including experience with overseeing compliance with privacy and security certifications and standards, such as ISO and FedRAMP.
  • Deep technical competence, including the ability to understand and analyze the company's products and offerings, particularly privacy, AI, and data security-related features and functionalities.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Outstanding relationship management skills, including the ability to develop partnerships and relationships throughout the organization.
  • A strategic problem solver with excellent legal and business judgement.
  • A collaborative leadership style that empowers the privacy team as well as fostering cross-functional cooperation from internal stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience includes proficiency with product and system security, sufficient to ensure privacy compliance, including review of vendor security statements, security standards, and internal product and system assessments and experience with legal and regulatory oversight of product and system security incidents.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who can be based in our San Ramon, California office.


Compensation may vary depending on your location, qualifications including job-related education, training, experience, licensure, and certification, that could result at a level outside of these ranges.
