Description of Duties:
Serves as the principal technical authority and visionary leader for the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. This high-impact role drives enterprise-wide technical innovation, establishes long-term technology roadmaps, and provides elite engineering governance. The Chief Engineer acts as the primary technical advisor to senior company and customer stakeholders while actively supporting strategic business development and mission-growth initiatives.
- Develop and maintain the long-term technology vision and strategic roadmap for the enterprise, aligning with customer’s future goals.
- Lead research and development (R&D) initiatives to identify, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies, with a strategic focus on advancing Digital Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), DevSecOps and AI/ML integration across the enterprise.
- Partner with business development to provide technical leadership for major strategic pursuits. Act as a key technical liaison with sales and customers to translate complex capabilities into clear value propositions.
- Define and govern engineering and architectural standards while delegating direct oversight of implementation to engineering leads.
- Serve as the primary technical advisor to senior leadership and government stakeholders, to translate complex technical concepts into strategic and business implications.
- Drive a culture of innovation, encouraging creative thinking and experimentation to solve complex challenges.
- Champion professional development and technical career progression for the engineering organization by mentoring senior staff to cultivate future leaders.
- Foster strategic partnerships with vendors, academic institutions, and other DoD organizations to enhance capabilities.
- Serve as an integrator across the department and contract, leveraging relationships and familiarity within the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
- Lead the integration of Systems Engineering Principles and Requirements into Project Management to deliver value across the enterprise.
- Use interpersonal skills to solve both technical and organizational conflicts.

Basic Requirements:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field from an accredited university.
- Must have 15+ years of progressive experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior strategic or architectural leadership role.
- Must have at least 3 years of experience in orchestrating and executing planning events with key stakeholders, to include Government senior leadership.
- Proven experience developing and implementing a multi-year technology strategy and roadmap for a large-scale enterprise.
- Experience with DoD acquisition processes and long-range strategic planning.
- Must have experience implementing Digital Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), DevSecOps and AI/ML integration across an enterprise.
- Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Desired Requirements:
- A Master’s degree in a STEM field from an accredited university.
- Demonstrated experience leading a Digital Engineering transformation, including the implementation of digital twins, authoritative sources of truth, or other simulation-driven design and verification methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience in leading innovation and R&D projects from conception to implementation.
- Experience in full systems life cycle, strategic planning, and project management methodologies.
- Experience mentoring employees to identify value and continuous improvement performance.
