Job Description:

We are seeking a person to join our Quality Compliance team as a Chemical Compliance Engineer. This role is important to ensure our company maintains the highest standards for regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of chemistries in parts/materials and can work with our Design & Procurement team to identify where we have restricted chemicals in our products while proposing potential replacements (if available).

Responsibilities:
  • Follow changes to regulatory requirements US, EMEA, Asia and translate it into product requirements
  • Proactively engage with the appropriate Industrial Organizations like SEMI Compliance Working Groups
  • Collaborate with Advantest internal Compliance teams.
  • Responsible for customer inquiries on regulatory topics and material compliance declarations
  • Maintain and support our "Design for the Environment" guideline
  • Support environmental aspects for all US based new product development projects & product end of Life
  • Provide support and guidance to stakeholders on environmental aspects
  • Manage Advantest requirements in fulfilling global environmental product compliance
  • Generating routine compliance reports for authorities as necessary
  • Manage PFAS, RoHS 3, REACH, SCIP & other substance data gathering, compliance and regulatory changes as needed


Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor / master's degree in electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or a related discipline or equivalent experience with demonstrated skill in the disciplines required for the position (which may include background in chemistry and material sciences)
  • 2-3 years' experience in US Federal & State regulatory/compliance processes & organizations
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills implementing and complying with environmental regulations like TSCA, Prop 65 REACH, RoHS, WEEE, Battery, and Packaging Directives, Stockholm Convention
  • Attention to detail, processes, bias for action, accountability, data collection and analysis, problem solving, judgement and decision-making
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Project management and presentation skills
  • Pro-active working style with good business acumen

Preferred:
  • Ability to speak Japanese and/or German a plus
  • 2-3 years' experience in international regulatory/compliance processes & organizations
