Position Overview - Certified Welding Inspector
We're seeking AWS Certified Welding Inspectors (CWIs) to support our growing pipeline of infrastructure and structural projects. In this role, you'll perform inspections across NY/NJ job sites and contribute to the ongoing development of welding quality assurance processes at AEIS.
What You'll Do
Quality Assurance & Inspection
- Perform visual and destructive weld inspections to ensure compliance with AWS D1.1/D1.5, ASME, and DOT standards.
- Monitor welding operations and ensure procedures and personnel are qualified.
- Identify and document weld defects and non-conformities.
- Conduct MT and UT inspections where certified.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate inspection records and generate professional reports using our proprietary software, designed to report welding and NDT inspections.
- Verify and review WPSs, PQRs, and Welder Certifications.
- Contribute to quality documentation systems.
Collaboration & Process Improvement
- Work closely with project managers, welding engineers, and NDT staff.
- Participate in process optimization reviews and corrective action reports.
What We're Looking For
Must Haves
- AWS CWI Certification (Active)
- 1-10 years of hands-on structural welding inspection experience
- Strong communication skills in English (spoken & written)
- Basic math and technical documentation skills
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and construction plans
- Willingness to travel to project sites throughout NY and NJ
Bonus Points
- MT and UT certifications (Level I/II)
- Experience with bolting inspections
- Familiarity with ASME standards
- Experience working on DOT or public infrastructure projects

Salary Range: $45 - $55 per hour
This range is based on national market data and may vary widely by experience and location.
