Salary Range: $164,038 - $213,383/annually
Length of Appointment: July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027

As a member of the Student and Family Services Division Executive Leadership Team, you will provide strategic leadership for division-wide programs and initiatives, including Health Services, Expanded Learning, Wellness and Health Education, Athletics, Student and Family Services, Compliance, Operations, and other key projects. You will partner with leaders to shape division priorities, guide policy and organizational strategy, and ensure high-quality support for students, families, and schools.
In this role, you will advance SFUSD's Vision, Values, Goals, and Guardrails, with a particular focus on Guardrail 2, Serving the Whole Child, strengthening students' sense of belonging and improving attendance. You will lead through collaboration, human-centered design, and continuous improvement, while fostering an inclusive culture grounded in equity, cultural humility, and anti-racist practices.
Essential Duties

As the Executive Director you will:
• Create, refine, and guide development of an integrated division wide identity
• Increase communication, clarity and connection across the division to reduce silos and streamline services
• Develop capacity of Program Team Leads and work teams, organized in service to students and families
• Guide division wide work supporting Guardrail 2 to inform design and implementation of coordinated care approach including coordinated care team structure and processes
• Identify gaps in the division wide structures and generate solutions in partners and feedback loops
• Work collaboratively with a collective mindset
• Create infrastructure for operational systems and structures for resource management, professional development and training resources, tracking tools and communication templates to strengthen capacity and coordination across
• Division and strengthen the capacity of all employees to give and receive feedback
• Build a deep understanding of the Division's budget and the District's budget development process partnering with the Business Services Department as needed.
• Develop and lead Division wide communication systems that support transparency, coordination, alignment and learning.
• Map and align Division and District evaluation and data tracking systems, identify gaps and reduce duplication to monitor student outcomes.
• Monitor compliance with all applicable laws, ordinances and regulations, including California Labor Code and Board of Education policies and resolutions; oversee the preparation and submission of State and Federal mandated reports.
• Lead, supervise, evaluate and guide SFSD Team Leads building capacity and holding staff accountable towards meeting division short and long-term goals.
• Identify and implement program and operational improvements that ensure the highest level of customer service for all employees.
The strongest candidates will have:
• Knowledge of San Francisco's public schools/urban public schools and a passionate belief in SFUSD's commitment to instructional leadership as a lever toward delivering on the SFUSD Graduate Profile
• Experience demonstrating shared accountability to prioritize service to students & families, with clear focus on the experiences of students and families historically under-served by us: African American, Latinx, Native American, Pacific \ Islander, and English Learner students and families; students receiving Special Education Services,LGBTQ+ identified students,youth in foster care, including honoring the intersection of these identities
• Experience leading major change management efforts with regard to both operational and communication systems
• Strong analytics and systems thinking necessary to interpret data to inform goals and strategy, as well as build infrastructure where none exists
• Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and roles within a complex organization
• A proven record of effectively planning, organizing and using resources to take action and achieve goals
• The ability to learn quickly and adapt as needed in a fast-paced environment
• Outstanding organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
• A flexible, "can do" work ethic with a focus on identifying challenges and proactively working to find solutions while maintaining a bigger picture lens and focus on what can be delivered instead of what cannot be done
• Excellent data analysis skills and experience synthesizing data to drive action steps
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with senior level district staff and colleagues
• Effective written and verbal communication and the ability to clearly communicate complex, bureaucratic processes to a variety of audiences
• Ability to define and implement effective HR business practices
• Ability to work effectively in difficult situations that involve confidential and sensitive matters
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and GSuite (Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms)
Minimum Qualifications
• Possession of a valid California Administrative credential or eligibility for a California Administrative Credential
• Five (5) years of experience as a site administrator or three (3) years of experience supervising site leaders
