Salary Range: $164,038 - $213,383/annually

As the Executive Director for LEAD you will drive equity-focused implementation and innovation as part of SFUSD's instructional leadership team and you will report to the Assistant Superintendent of your assigned division (Early Education, Elementary, Middle, High School). The Executive Director of Principal Leadership and Support provides coaching capacity and will support the implementation of SFUSD's strategic plan.
Essential Duties

As the Executive Director you will:
• Under the leadership of the Assistant Superintendent and in alignment with sites' School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) AND WASC, support school principals with a focus on dramatically improving outcomes for African American students, English Learners, and other underserved student groups, and improving student achievement overall
• In alignment with site leaders' Leadership Action Plan (LAP), provide site-level coaching to support administrators in achieving their goals
• Provide regular updates and thought partnership to the Assistant Superintendent regarding site leadership efforts
• Lead a cohort of school sites, supervising and actively supporting the leadership development for school leaders assigned to your cohort.
• Provide visible district-level leadership, support, and guidance across all assigned school sites; take part in school community and family engagements; attend instructional leadership team and school site council meetings as appropriate to communicate district priorities.
• Champion and model anti-racist leadership rooted in equity, the belief that all students can learn, and the understanding that we must interrupt inequities to ensure that each and every student receives the quality instruction and equitable support required to thrive in the 21st century
• Collaborate with school site leaders and centralized district departments to develop, implement, regularly evaluate, improve, and redesign instructional programs toward increasing student achievement at under-performing schools and closing the achievement and equity gap at all schools.
• Build a learning, equity, and performance-focused cohort leadership team of principals that regularly engages in authentic collaborative learning to improve their own leadership capacity and success
• Using an equity lens, develop and implement a strong talent strategy, including regular one-to-one meetings, to supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel who report directly to the Executive Director
• Strategically build a strong, cohesive, and collaborative team among cohort principals and assistant principals to ensure commitment to and implementation of priorities and to model healthy and productive adult culture
• Promote Instructional Coherence to the Deeper Learning Framework, SFUSD Instructional Rubric and Instructional Guides to increase the achievement of African American/Black, English Language Learners and Students with Individualized Education Plans.
• Support site leaders to design, deliver and monitor progress of adult learning, and schoolwide systems to support professional growth, reflection, and teacher collaboration for continuous improvement
• Support site leaders to monitor site systems & day to day operations including resource management, school culture, and deepening consistency of policy development and implementation
• Work in direct partnership with the College and Career Readiness Team to support academic opportunities for students and shift systems and structures to improve access for students from marginalized communities
• Serve as proxy for the Assistant Superintendent when the Assistant Superintendent is unable to attend a meeting
• Serve on workgroups that range across instructional and operational teams in service of school site support.
• Respond to site based emergencies, when delegated and communicate through district policies and protocols to ensure shared understanding of emergency response
• Performs other related duties as assigned
The strongest candidates will have:
• Strategic leadership and management experience in a PK-12 urban public educational setting, particularly high school and/or college and career readiness related experience
• Knowledge of San Francisco's public schools/urban public schools and a passionate belief in SFUSD's commitment to instructional leadership as a lever toward delivering on the SFUSD Vision Value Goals and Guardrails
• Strong analytical and systems thinking necessary to interpret data to inform goals and strategy, as well as build infrastructure where none exists
• Well-developed cultural humility, awareness of their own identity, and understanding of internalized, interpersonal, and systemic racism and other forms of oppression
• A proven record of effectively planning, organizing and using resources to take action and achieve goals
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with senior level district staff and colleagues
• A track record of effective collaboration across departmental and organizational boundaries
• A strong customer service mindset
• Success leading effective teams and individuals
• Ability to work effectively in difficult situations that involve confidential and sensitive matters
Minimum Qualifications
• Possession of a valid California Administrative credential or eligibility for a California Administrative Credential
• Five (5) years of experience as a site administrator or three (3) years of experience supervising site leaders

SFUSD offers a competitive salary of $164,038 - $213,383/annually commensurate with experience in a similar position. This position is a one-year contract which may be renewed on an annual basis.
