College & Career Readiness (CCR) promotes the District's mission of creating a college-going culture by leveraging relationships within the local and national communities to ensure that all secondary school students have the means, opportunity, and preparation to succeed in postsecondary training, ranging from two-or four-year colleges, apprenticeships, or certification programs, and to be successful in the workplace.

The Director of College & Career Readiness (CCR) reports to the Executive Director of College and Career Readiness and is a key leader in High School LEAD. The Director will support the district's transformational work to develop systems of support for our students consistent with SFUSD's Strategic Plan, Transform Learning, Transform Lives, and realize the steps that lead to Vision 2025 for SFUSD's most vulnerable learners. We want someone who will lead the vision to accelerate how students receive services and resources to ensure they are college and/or career ready. The Director will support programs such as AVID, College Access, Counseling / Post Secondary and Extended Learning and Support. The Director will build and maintain strong partnerships with district departments, ensuring support for English Learners and Special Education and populations who have been historically marginalized, to extend learning for the district's most vulnerable learners. The Director will develop and maintain relationships with external partners to ensure that services meet the needs of all students.

Essential Duties

The duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to the job code/class and are not intended to be an inclusive or exhaustive list.

As the Director, College & Career Readiness, you will:
• Represent the College and Career Readiness department and manage the budget including data analysis, reporting, advocacy and presentation.
• Plan for, implement and supervise summer programming for College & Career Readiness programs.
• Ensure the development and delivery of professional development for all secondary counselors dedicated to building comprehensive school counseling programs that deliver services with multi-tiered systems of support.
• Ensure collaboration with other SFUSD departments and programs to ensure school counselors are data and policy-informed and able to implement policies while aligning systems and supports towards graduation.
• Ensure implementation of the State's career readiness platform, CCGI (California College Guidance Initiative) and training for sites.
• Coordinate with sites and community based organizations to ensure completion of Financial Aid.
• Manage the K-12 course deck on Synergy with the other Curriculum & Instruction departments, DOT, and Human Resources to ensure accurate data reporting to stakeholders. This includes but is not limited to reviewing courses for proper tagging, deactivating inactive courses, and creating new courses.
• Manage SFUSD's district-wide a-g reference list, which includes but is not limited to supporting sites and/or departments with submitting courses for approval.
• Supervise the proper implementation of the College Board programs (AP and PSAT) with fidelity to the standards set forth by the College Board. This includes ensuring the AP Course Audit is accurate for every school, meeting AP and PSAT deadlines to ensure tests are delivered to sites on time, and assuring that College Board guidelines are met during AP and PSAT testing.
• Articulate and implement a compelling vision for transforming the district's current set of Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic interventions and extended learning opportunities, including the reframing of traditional intervention so that it is positive, enriching, rigorous, and interdisciplinary in nature. This includes an on-ramp to post-secondary success beginning in elementary school and based on providing multiple opportunities and formats for students to recover high school credit, developing partnerships and establishing systems of support so that students likely to be off-track in high school from all backgrounds enroll and are successful in CCR programs.
• Collaborate with a wide array of internal and external partners to support the implementation of programs for the district's most vulnerable learners such as Special Education Department with Extended School Day, English Learners with the SAILL program, and City College of San Francisco with Transitional Studies to provide support to school sites to enroll students and to the programs to ensure their smooth operation. This collaboration will enhance the array of effective options employed by schools to support students in need of academic acceleration; and develop the professional skills required to successfully serve vulnerable students.
• Design, implement, evaluate and manage systems and structures that support Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic interventions and extend learning to younger students for "precovery" to prevent students from needing credit recovery.
• Lead new and emerging strategic initiatives that support the overall goals of the City of San Francisco and the SFUSD Superintendent through the development and effective facilitation of cross-agency and community partnerships, data-informed policies, and scalable programs that drive equitable student outcomes through organizational effectiveness. Development of these initiatives will require clear project plans, defined processes, performance metrics, and cross-functional coordination with District departments, the City of SF and post-secondary institutions to ensure timely, efficient and accountable execution.

The strongest candidates will have:
• Capacity to clearly communicate the vision, goals and mission of College and Career Readiness
• Experience and ability to successfully navigate and negotiate partnerships to align, sequence and enhance CCR opportunities for African-American and other targeted students, PreK-12
• Knowledge of San Francisco's public schools
• Knowledge of SFUSD graduation requirements and college admission requirements, as well as the community college application process
• Experience at multiple levels (elementary, middle and/or high) and/or site-based/central
• Knowledge of RTI as a framework for identifying students in need of additional support, monitoring progress, and collecting information about the fidelity of intervention services
• A proven record of effectively planning, organizing and using resources to take action and be accountable for capturing, analyzing and communicating data to ensure student and program success
• Knowledge, experience and ability to support effective teaching practices and effective counseling practices using a Response to Intervention approach
• Demonstrated ability to both work independently and in a team environment; communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; develop and maintain positive working relationships with individuals and groups
• A proven record of effectively planning, organizing and using resources to take action and be accountable for capturing, analyzing and communicating data to ensure student and program success
• Experience managing budgets, and navigating the district's financial systems
• Experience building strong teams by developing individual's skills, maximizing their strengths and providing regular feedback
• Administrative experience to support, supervise and evaluate a range of staff members and to offer guidance to site administrators on program design and implementation
• Experience with all administrative functions related to opening and closing schools including master schedule, hiring, Synergy, graduation, and professional development
• Experience leading programming for targeted students towards measurable results
• A Master's in education or a related field, or comparable management-level experience

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience
• Valid California Administrative Credential
• Two years of experience as a site administrator, or comparable administrative position
• Willingness and ability to work summers in person, supporting and facilitating CCR programming
