Full Job Description
Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated In Vivo Scientist to contribute to discovery research. This position will focus on HIV research, including virus production, characterization, and support of HIV discovery efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, execution, optimization, and characterization of HIV production workflows. As well as inventory management.
  • Conduct HIV discovery research using primary human cells (PBMCs, CD4+ T cells) and immortalized cell lines (THP-1, Jurkat, MT-4).
  • Perform and analyze experiments utilizing multi-parameter flow cytometry (2 colors or more), RT-qPCR, PCR, ELISA, and MSD multiplex assays.
  • Generate and characterize stable cell lines expressing proteins of interest.
  • Support in vivo studies, including tissue collection and processing, and perform ex vivo viral RNA isolation from tissues and/or blood samples.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, communicate findings, and contribute to project strategy and execution.


Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Immunology, Virology, or a related scientific discipline. Equivalent combination of a lesser degree and industry experience would also be acceptable.
  • Demonstrated experience in HIV research and BSL-2 laboratory operations, with a strong HIV publication record preferred.
  • Familiarity with HIV host-pathogen interactions.
  • Expertise in viral propagation, concentration, and characterization techniques, including ultracentrifugation, viral titer determination, and neutralization assays.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, including CRISPR gene editing, siRNA-mediated knockdown, transfection, site-directed mutagenesis, and Western blotting.
  • Experience with in vivo mouse studies, including animal handling, tissue harvesting, and isolating viral RNA from ex vivo tissues and/or blood samples.
  • Experience with ELISA.
  • Proficiency with scientific data analysis and visualization software, including FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, and SnapGene or Geneious Prime.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restrictions or sponsorship.

Nice to have
  • Willingness to learn omics techniques, i.e. MSD multiplex assays, Nomics, Olink, 10X Genomics scRNAseq.

Position is Monday- Friday 8:00 am- 5:00 pm with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of West Point, PA are encouraged to apply.
