Role Overview

As a member of Starwood Capital's in-house Capital Markets team, you will support the sourcing, structuring, and execution of debt financing for assets owned or being acquired by Starwood's Opportunity Funds and other investment vehicles. This role offers broad exposure to complex real estate financings across asset classes and capital structures.

Responsibilities
  • Support the origination and execution of debt financings and refinancings across Starwood's portfolio, including senior, mezzanine, and construction facilities
  • Assist in preparing financing packages, lender presentations, and term sheet comparisons for senior review
  • Conduct market research and monitor lender appetite, pricing trends, and capital markets conditions across CMBS, agency, bank, insurance, corporate and debt fund channels
  • Coordinate with internal acquisitions, asset management teams, portfolio management, outside counsel, and lenders to facilitate efficient transaction closings
  • Help maintain and build relationships with existing and new lending institutions across the capital stack
  • Review and track loan documentation to ensure consistency and accuracy throughout the closing process

Required Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience in real estate finance - investment banking, private equity, debt advisory, or a bank/non-bank lending platform
  • Foundational understanding of debt capital structures including senior mortgage, mezzanine, and preferred equity
  • Exposure to CMBS or structured real estate transactions a plus
  • Genuine passion for real estate capital markets and a desire to build a long-term career in the space
  • Strong work ethic with a high sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Collaborative team player who can manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Self-starter who takes ownership of tasks without needing to be managed closely
