  • Analyze and present financial information to client leadership.
  • Develop budgets and implement corrective actions based on variance analysis.
  • Review payroll and ensure payroll tax compliance.

About the role:

CLA is looking to hire a Controller with Construction Industry experience, for our Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) practice. As a Controller, you will help our clients transform their business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs.

Role Responsibilities...
  • Assist the accounting team to record complex transactions.
  • Review complex account reconciliations prepared by the accounting team.
  • Complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting and closing process.
  • Adhere to the client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
  • Provide detailed review of the general ledger, financial statements and required work papers.
  • Prepare work papers for the independent auditors, if applicable
  • Analyze and interpret financial information and regularly present to the client's leadership.
  • Develop budgets, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Review payroll and payroll tax compliance.


What you will need:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experience: 6 years relevant work experience as a Controller or equivalent is required.
  • Accounting back-office experience is required.
  • Relevant experience in the Construction industry is highly preferred! Public accounting experience preferred but not required.
  • Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems. QuickBooks experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc).
  • Travel: This position works primarily in-office and requires frequent local travel to/from client sites. It may require occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes

The compensation range for this position in Minnesota is: $93,000.00 - $165,000.00
