About the Role:
Following TMX Group's strategic acquisition of Verity, we are accelerating our buy-side expansion across North America. We are seeking a driven, growth-minded Buy-Side Business Development Manager to lead account penetration efforts across a high-potential segment of buy-side clients (Asset Managers, Asset Owners, and Hedge Funds) that currently represent low wallet share (
In this individual contributor role, you will lead an Account-Based Sales (ABS) strategy across a highly targeted list of ~75 high-value accounts. Your primary mission is to leverage your growing buy-side network to drive greenfield opportunities, positioning Verity Data and Verity RMS (Research Management System) alongside the broader TMX Datalinx dataset directly into investment management teams, research desks, and executive leadership.
Key Accountabilities
• Strategic Account Penetration: Execute an Account-Based Sales (ABS) framework to expand wallet share across targeted buy-side accounts, leveraging a deep understanding of client business structures and needs.
• Pipeline Management: Build and manage a diverse sales pipeline of 2.5X target across all TMX Datalinx product lines, ensuring steady progression through deal cycles.
• Achieve Sales Quota: Sales Quota will be assigned across all applicable buy side products including Verity Data, Verity RMS, and our Index products to name a few.
• Client Engagement & Discovery: Conduct face-to-face meetings with key decision-makers (including Portfolio Managers, Analysts, Market Data and C-suite) to assess client challenges, drive satisfaction, and uncover new opportunities.
• Product Positioning: Strategically pitch Verity Data and RMS solutions alongside our Index suite and the broader TMX Datalinx suite to align with specific client business functions.
• Collaborative Account Management: Partner closely with the Sales Specialist team, Product Managers, and Contract Analysts to develop and execute account strategies that drive revenue growth.
• Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with the VP, Sales and aligned Sales Specialists to execute and refine the overall account management strategy for the targeted accounts.
Must Haves
• 5-7 years of successful sales or account management experience selling market data, analytics, or FinTech SaaS platforms to North American buy-side institutions.
• Buy-Side Network: Proven ability to build, navigate, and maintain relationships with key decision-makers (PMs, Analysts, DORs, COOs, CTOs) across hedge funds, asset managers, and institutional asset owners.
• Hunter Mentality & ABS Focus: Track record of executing Account-Based Sales (ABS) strategies against defined target account lists to generate new ARR.
• Track Record: Demonstrated ability to independently prospect, qualify opportunities, manage deal cycles, close net-new business and achieve quota.
• Core Skills: Highly adaptable self-starter with excellent presentation skills, consultative communication abilities, and the capacity to navigate matrixed organizational structures.
Nice to Haves
• Experience collaborating with front, middle, and back-office buy-side stakeholders.
• Knowledge of market data delivery options, feed architecture, and API solutions.
• Familiarity with data and software requirements across investment management teams.
This role is hybrid (3-5 days/week in the office) - based in New York, NY
Salary Range: $140,000 - $150,000K/year USD
