Overview

NexGen is looking for a In-Plant Special Projects- Business Unit Leader to join their growing team! This position is travel based.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in construction science, construction management, engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university and 10 years of experience in construction, or 14 years of construction related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, MS Project, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, CMIC is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel and oversee projects on a nationwide footprint.
  • Effective planning and resource management skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to monitor construction schedules and identify potential issues.
  • Proactive in promoting and ensuring workplace safety.


  • Ability to lead, grow, and steward a business unit in a holistic manner.
  • Develop high quality business strategies and plans ensuring their alignment with short-term and long-term objectives.

  • Coordinate with General Contractors, Customers, and Owners.
  • Oversee reporting requirements, including field time and productivity, materials, safety, and other relevant aspects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Frequently in a normal office environment where noise level is moderate, and temperature/humidity is controlled. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. May be exposed to high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, extreme cold and/or heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibrations. Noise level on the job site is normally moderate to loud. Overtime will be required. Travel will be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has supervisory responsibilities, including the build-out of office and field staff.
