Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with a strong background in
Data Engineering and Data Warehousing projects. The ideal candidate will serve as a critical liaison between business stakeholders, data engineering teams, and IT organizations to ensure that data-driven solutions are aligned with business objectives and delivered effectively.
This role requires a blend of business analysis expertise, data domain knowledge, stakeholder management, and technical understanding of modern data platforms, ETL/ELT processes, and reporting solutions.
Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business and data requirements.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications for data engineering teams.
- Define business rules, data use cases, KPIs, and success criteria.
- Work closely with Data Engineers, Architects, and Developers on data integration, ETL/ELT, data pipeline, and data warehousing initiatives.
- Analyze and document data flows, source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, and data lineage.
- Facilitate requirements workshops, stakeholder meetings, and solution review sessions.
- Act as the primary liaison between business users, data teams, and IT stakeholders.
- Create and maintain Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), user stories, process flows, data dictionaries, and related documentation.
- Ensure alignment between business expectations and delivered solutions.
- Support data governance, data quality, security, and compliance initiatives.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), data validation, and defect resolution activities.
- Collaborate with BI and Analytics teams to support dashboards, reporting, and data visualization requirements.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability across reporting and analytical platforms.
- Support Agile project delivery and participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and requirement refinement sessions.
Required Skills & Experience: - 8+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or Business Analyst, with significant experience supporting Data Engineering or Data Warehousing projects.
- Strong understanding of Business Analysis methodologies, requirements management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Hands-on experience with data integration, ETL/ELT processes, and enterprise data platforms.
- Advanced SQL skills for data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of data modeling concepts, including Star Schema and Snowflake Schema.
- Experience with data mapping, data lineage, metadata management, and transformation logic.
- Knowledge of data quality frameworks and data validation techniques.
- Experience working with data warehouses and data lake technologies such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Excel.
- Experience using JIRA, Azure DevOps, Visio, Lucidchart, or similar tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Understanding of API integrations, web services, and data exchange mechanisms.
- Exposure to Big Data technologies such as Spark and Hadoop.
- Knowledge of data governance, data privacy, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in Business Analysis, Agile, Cloud, or Data Management are a plus.
