Full Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Leads client projects or defined workstreams throughout the full project lifecycle, from strategy development and requirements planning through testing, execution, and transition, and is accountable for effective execution and quality project management.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors project plans, timelines, task schedules, milestones, budgets, deliverables, and required activities using established project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Aligns project objectives with department strategy, business needs, and client priorities by contributing expertise, applying lessons learned, and identifying best practices and common obstacles.
  • Monitors and analyzes project performance against plan; identifies and documents risks, issues, and dependencies; and recommends and implements viable alternatives or corrective actions when objectives are at risk.
  • Communicates project status, performance, risks, issues, decisions, and updates clearly and regularly to clients, project teams, business partners, leaders, and senior managers.
  • Provides direction and motivation to project teams; delegates work effectively; builds commitment to shared outcomes; holds self and teammates accountable; and supports peer development to strengthen performance and career growth.
  • Consults directly with internal and external clients to ensure projects are completed accurately and on time, influences key decision-makers on plan design changes, automated workflows, risk mitigation, and long-term retirement plan strategy.
  • Represents Vanguard in on-site and off-site meetings with prospective and current clients, explains conversion processes and procedures, and supports sales efforts as appropriate.
  • Provides leadership among peers, advocates for change and the Implementation Services business plan, advances short- and long-range department priorities, challenges the status quo constructively, champions key business initiatives, and gains senior manager support.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
