Full Job Description
Business Development Principal with Federal GovCon experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) branches and agencies, with specific focus in logistics, engineering and sustainment. Report directly to the Vice President of Business Development and will partner with Operating Group leadership.

Work location: Huntsville, Alabama

Summary: This role is responsible for supporting account management and identifying & qualifying new business opportunities. Coordinates and maintains customer business relationships in domestic and/or international government markets. Identifies and develops opportunities for business expansion. Develops marketing strategies and provides input into market account plans and the company's strategic plan. Acts as liaison with government agencies and offices. Ensures that business development strategy is implemented. Updates opportunity status in opportunity tracking system of record. Leads/Participates in capture efforts to secure new or re-compete contracts, or task order business. Develops or helps develop capture strategy including business solution for pursuit of opportunities; identifies potential customers, competitive assessments, teaming suppliers, and prices-to-win; participates in bid and proposal activities.

Specific responsibilities:
  • Responsible for pipeline development and management
  • Developing customer engagement strategy with Redstone Arsenal
  • Responsible for strategic evaluation of accounts and potential business opportunities. Provide input into the Operating Group's overall business strategy for growth.
  • Effective qualification of opportunities to enhance PWIN and best position deal for successful capture.
  • Collaborate and coordinate business development (BD) activities internally ensuring opportunities are prioritized and managed within the business area.
  • Assist executive leadership team in setting strategic marketing programs to drive organizational growth and meet established goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with key decision makers in relevant market segments. Work with the Operating Group and BD team to leverage all relationships across the targeted market space. Responsible for developing and managing customer call plans.
  • Develop and execute a tactical sales strategy for the market segment.
  • Based on analysis of customer research, develop a strategy to establish new business, expand and grow existing engineering and sustainment business. Identifies and/or develop customer needs.
  • Support creation and execution of multi-year business development strategies for expansion into sustainment market
  • Participate in S&A and B&P budget planning for opportunities and compliance to budgets

Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience in sustainment and engineering is preferred; optimal candidate will understand how to best focus on opportunities that are constant challenges for the War Fighter and coordinating multiple small teams with common-thread Digital Threads between them.
  • Experience with obsolescence, technical data and design is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years related experience working in federal government Program Management Office (PMO), sustainment and/or Acquisition environment.
  • Experience with or knowledge of obsolescence, logistics and sustainment markets preferred.
  • Demonstrated background in solution selling, developing new markets, with proven leadership from inception to fruition of a strategic campaign.
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills coupled with the ability to establish and maintain productive customer and industry participant networks.
  • Must be a US citizen with ability to obtain a government security clearance.
