Position OverviewThe
Business Analyst, Risk Management is responsible for delivering data-driven insights that support portfolio risk monitoring, management reporting, and strategic decision-making. This role develops and maintains reporting solutions, dashboards, and portfolio analytics to identify emerging risks, measure portfolio performance, and support risk mitigation initiatives. The analyst partners with business stakeholders to enhance reporting capabilities, monitor key risk indicators, and provide actionable analysis that strengthens portfolio oversight and risk management practices.
Summary of Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe
Business Analyst is an LA-based position on a hybrid schedule with at least three (3) days in-office. This position will report to the
Director, Risk Management. While not an exhaustive list, the
Business Analystwill be responsible for:
- Produce management reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses for senior leadership and risk management teams.
- Develop and maintain portfolio analytics to support risk assessment and business decision-making.
- Manage Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting and exception reporting processes.
- Analyze trends and provide insights on portfolio performance, risk exposure, and operational metrics.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across reporting platforms.
- Monitor watchlist migration activity and asset performance trends.
- Identify and analyze concentration risks across geography, property type, sponsor, industry, and other portfolio segments.
- Support portfolio surveillance initiatives through ongoing risk monitoring and reporting.
- Track workout activity, reperforming rates, and portfolio remediation efforts.
- Escalate emerging portfolio risks and provide recommendations to support proactive risk management.
Education and Experience- Bachelor's degree in business, Economics, Real Estate, or related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in business analysis and operations, with a proven track record of working with large datasets and performing complex analyses.
- 1-2 years of experience in the mortgage or real estate industry, with a solid understanding of mortgage products preferred.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software such as Excel, SQL, and data visualization platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Expert troubleshooting skills to investigate resolve and escalate problems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Salesforce certifications are a plus
CompensationThis position is exempt full-time, with salary range:
$75,000 - 95,000 depending on experience level, plus discretionary bonus potential.
