Full Job Description

The purpose of this position is to manage the Design Analysis branch of the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station's (SSES) Engineering Department. Job functions include proper management of day-to-day group activities in a multi-discipline environment, maintenance of the group budget, and attainment of organizational goals/improvement initiatives. Primary responsibilities of the Branch Manager are to achieve high levels of department performance by providing the engineering group priorities and direction, coordination, and management of SSES Engineering program/procedure requirements, approval of technical products, maintenance of regulatory commitments, and resolution of complex technical issues consistent with plant licensing and design bases. Specific responsibilities include work planning, scheduling of group resources, employee development, and work group coordination to support the timely and quality resolution of technical, operational, and regulatory issues.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Accountable to accomplish work activities in an effective manner without compromising plant safety.
  • Provides technical leadership and prioritization of requested engineering analytical support in a multi-discipline environment.
  • Ensures compliance with Technical Specifications, facility license, and station procedures.
  • Maintains engineering group product quality and productivity at a high level to support station operation.
  • Coordinates assessments of engineering process performance with industry best practices to improve engineering programs.
  • Responsible for managing group budget and schedule.
  • Interfacing and establishing effective communication between groups to support delivery of quality products that support station operations.
  • Assigns work activities, reinforces station standards, sets and reinforces department standards, and monitors performance for all work assigned to his or her team.
  • Establishes personnel goals, trains and develops team members to facilitate knowledge transfer and develop individual and group proficiencies.
  • Leverages group to identify technological solutions to address plant problems, and to establish and implement procedures that control component specifications, system designs, and modification activities.

Candidate Qualifications:

Candidates must meet the basic qualifications and pass all required tests or assessments to receive consideration.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences
  • 7-8 years of responsible nuclear power plant experience.
  • Knowledge of nuclear plant systems and interrelations, including training and certification programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience providing oversight and approval of design products, including those of outside contractors.
  • Previous supervisor experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate well with individuals on all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to develop efficient work strategies that yield quality and timely results.
  • Knowledge of Susquehanna training program.
