About the role
The Biofuels and Low Carbon Analyst is responsible for driving the commercial success of bp’s US biofuels business by identifying, evaluating and executing opportunities that optimize value across regulatory, operational, and market landscapes. The position combines commercial analytics, regulatory expertise, supply chain optimization, and performance management to support commercial decisions, ensure compliance with renewable fuels programs, and maximize profitability.
The biofuels markets and operational landscape are continually changing, making this an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven individual who enjoys solving complex problems, identifying new value-creation opportunities, and enhancing bp’s customer offer and market position. This role offers the opportunity to grow commercial skills and to learn how to lead successfully across multiple interfaces and commodities to achieve results.
Key Responsibilities- Develop commercial analytics and justification for biofuels projects and initiatives across the US footprint, inclusive of revex and capex spend.
- Understand evolving biofuels and low carbon regulations and incentives to inform the business on emerging opportunities and risks.
- Forecasting lead for Midwest biodiesel demand across a team of traders, operators, pricing analysts, schedulers, and logistics providers to supply bp’s customers with biodiesel in the most cost-effective manner while maintaining best in class supply reliability.
- US Midstream lead for voluntary environmental attribute program applications and audit preparations.
- US Midstream lead for Renewable Fuels Standard pathway petition process.
- Develop and maintain relevant and actionable performance management metrics for bp’s US biofuels business.
- Identify entrepreneurial biofuels blending opportunities in line with changing economic and regulatory landscapes.
- Provide commercial support and thought leadership to mid and long term plans for the US biofuels landscape.

Essential education, experience and requirements- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to build consensus and engage with key stakeholders at multiple levels and across organizational boundaries.
- Comfortable and efficient at managing complex data.
- Effectively communicates technical content to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to build and manage strong relationships successfully.
- Proven ability to build networks to enhance effectiveness and share knowledge.
- Experience working on teams comprised of stakeholders from a variety of business and technology areas.
- Understanding of end-to-end supply chain optimization and integrated margin principles and application.
- Understanding of, or ability to learn quickly, bp and industry product flows in the footprint and regional supply/demand balances. Prior experience in Refining, Midstream/Supply, Operations, or a similar role is preferred.
- Experience in or knowledge of US biofuels and renewable state and federal programs / regulations preferred.
How much do we pay (Base)?109,000 - 156,000 USD Annually
- Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
This position is eligible for US Benefits - Core. This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full time employees. You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
