Job Description

Hill International is seeking a BIM Coordinator in Austin, Texas

We are seeking an experienced BIM Coordinator specialized in large-scale aviation infrastructure to oversee the digital lifecycle of our complex airport projects. Airport environments demand highly intricate asset integration, spanning immense passenger terminals, active airside runways, automated baggage handling systems, and subterranean utility networks. In this role, you will bridge the gap between design and field execution by leading multi-disciplinary clash detection meetings, enforcing complex data standards, and ensuring seamless digital handovers aligned with strict airport authority facility management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Specialized System Coordination: Integrate and coordinate complex 3D models containing specialized airport elements, including Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBB), jetways, advanced security screening layouts, and extensive IT/telecom infrastructure.
  • Airside & Landside Clash Detection: Run comprehensive conflict-detection audits using Navisworks Manage across civil grading, airside structures, and heavy terminal MEP systems, ensuring strict clearance criteria are met.
  • Asset Data Management (COBie): Manage strict asset data requirements up to Level of Development (LOD 400/500). Ensure accurate COBie compliance to support the immediate handover of project documentation into the airport's Asset Management or Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • 4D Logistics & Sequencing: Collaborate with project schedulers to develop 4D sequencing animations, verifying that construction phasing plans do not conflict with or disrupt live flight line operations, active security thresholds, or terminal passenger flows.
  • Airport Authority Compliance: Review and enforce project compliance with specific Airport Authority BIM Standards, federal aviation design guidelines, and unique local metadata criteria.
  • Laser Scan Validation: Oversee the ingestion and processing of terrestrial laser scanning (point cloud data) to validate field-installed conditions against the master model.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent technical degree.
  • Minimum three (3) years of professional experience, with at least 2 years dedicated exclusively to major aviation hubs, airports, or large-scale multi-modal transit projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks Manage, and AutoCAD Civil 3D (essential for airside/landside infrastructure integration).
  • Knowledgeable of working inside Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or BIM 360 environments under strict permissions and folder structures.
  • Autodesk Certified Professional (Revit or Navisworks).
  • Experience with GIS integration (e.g., Esri ArcGIS) to connect landside spatial data directly to the BIM model environment.
  • Knowledge of Dynamo or Python to automate the massive data validations required for thousands of individual airport facility assets.
  • Ability to successfully pass comprehensive background screening to obtain airport-specific security badges (e.g., SIDA badge).
  • Valid Driver's License
